The Lion and Tiger shifters loathed each other. Making up any excuse to pick a fight, even using their daughters to help. Scarlett and Zora weren't supposed to fall in love but they did, thus hid their love from everyone. Keeping it secret for years until they and their friends were selected to go to Auradon so they can be taught how to be good.
