Ava (Twisted Fairy Tale: Book 3)
"When I say hero, what comes to mind? Flowing cape? Superpowers? Great moral compass? I use to think that. Not anymore.
My hero comes in an expensive tailored suit, smoking thick cigars, and has a name that sends chills down everyone's spine. He goes by a code. Protect me at all costs. But honestly, I think it's because I'm carrying his kid." She eyes my swollen belly before scooting down another chair as we waited in the waiting room. Awkward,
"Miss. Van Der Hudson? Mr. DeLuca will see you now." Breathing out I stand up, shoulders back, I try to project confidence as I pass the very intimidating security I walk into the large office, the walls are shelves of books. "Wow." I actually say out-loud.
My sights finally land on the man who's back is facing me, he swiftly turns to glance at me to freeze on the spot. "I'll call you back brother." Ripping the ear piece from his ear he motions for me to sit down. "Pregnant women shouldn't be standing. When are you due?"
"I'm only a few months. Umm Mr. DeLuca, the Wolf of Washington, protector of the city, I-I- first off let me say I'm not here to black mail, or cause any trouble for you. I'm simply wanting to let you know.... you would do anything for family right?"
He nods, "I-I recently was inseminated with your sperm."
He doesn't smile, doesn't say a damn thing, just stares at me with a look that grows colder by the second. Simply reaching over he jams the ear piece into his ear, "Martha call my brother...." I jumped when he slams his hands down on the desk, rising on his feet the chair crashes into the book shelf. "What did you do?!"
