Beneath: A Slayer Chronicle (Book 1)
Westwood senior Skyler Moore swears black-and-blue that the new kid, Derek Scots, is a vampire. He might be fooling all the other drooling schoolgirls with his handsome, flawless skin and his plump-red lips. Not Skye. She suspects Derek is behind her brother's mysterious disappearance and the pattern of missing high-school kids when she continues to dream about him, even before they've met, and wakes from such dreams with bite marks on her neck.
It isn't too long before Skye discovers that not only is Derek indeed undead, but engaged in a terrible plot to kidnap four of her classmates who happen to each host the blood of a vampire, a lycanthrope, a witch and a faerie. What's worse, Derek believes Skye is one of them.
She and three other chosen captives are compelled into following Derek and his vampire accomplices through a magical gateway underneath Westwood High, into an underground world full of vibrant forests, gothic castles and lamp-lit cities, where creatures beyond Skye's wildest imaginings await hungrily below. At that point, Skye would give anything to be a drooling schoolgirl again.
After each sacrifice is led away to their death one by one, Skye is left to starve alone when she is rescued by a vampire slayer named Alex. He and his family live in a picture-perfect cottage where they shelter Skye, teach her their slaying techniques, chop wood in sweat-soaked shirts, generally bleed sexiness ... and that's just Alex.
Hunted by vampires, dryads, werewolves and other Underworld creatures, Skye must remain hidden until the next full moon. But what is more terrifying than an army of starving immortal beings thirsty for her blood?
