Last year, in "True Blessings," I introduced you to Christie Haines, her grandson Sammy, and his father - Christie's son - Arnold. The Haines family was divided - the children upset when Christie announced she was transgender six years prior, and began living her authentic life. But, having to stay with his grandparent, Sammy realized she still loved her children and grandchildren and - with the help of his friend, Alice - learned about gender dysphoria and that she didn't suffer the mental illness as his father and Aunt Jennifer insisted. That Christmas, acceptance was the greatest gift Christie received. Nearly a year has passed and a wedding looms. Sammy will soon have a stepmother. But, now, his Aunt Jennifer is threatening the joyous occasion as she uses it to convince her brother and nephew they are wrong accepting Christie's gender. Then, a new patient is admitted to the surgical unit where Jennifer works as a nurse.
