This is the central narrative thread that runs through the three books of The Ghostwriter Series. The Word of God was the original title for the series, and the story purports to be the autobiography of our 'Creator', as revealed to the ghostwriter, Jonathon Fry. In addition to delivering the text of The Word of God, The Ghostwriter Series tells the stories of the creation of The Word of God and the impact it had both on the ghostwriter in The Involuntary Ghostwriter, but also his wife, Annie,in The Ghostwriter's Wife, and finally his great-grandson, Sammy, in The Ghostwriter's Legacy. In The Ghostwriter's Wife, Annie transcribes and edits The Word of God from the blog where her husband had posted it, then has it published as the book you are reading. The theme behind The Word or God is the result of a collision of the lyrics of a song and the words of the author's mother. The song: One of Us, by Eric Bazillion, as records by Joan Osborne. The lyrics: What if God was one of us? The words of the author's mother: When you grow up, you can be anything you want. Little did she know he'd take her so literally. The Word of God, as presented here, is intended to be published independently, but also a companion book to a fourth volume in The Ghostwriter's Series, a work in progress, that will also be posted here, entitled The Ghostwriter's Words.
