Escaping the suffering of her own world, Malia, a solitary scavenger, descends into a realm inhabited by tricksters, shapeshifters, and spirits, where humans are nearly extinct and where a hunter roams the archipelago for those who remain.

Malia must decide who to trust as she embarks with a kappa, a human-like turtle, and a tanuki, a raccoon dog, on a quest to find a sacred amulet that would shield her from malicious spirits. To survive, she must let go of her selfishness and mistrust as the group clashes with demonic cats, ghoulish futons, and botanist demons.

Think Neil Gaiman meets Japanese folklore and mythology. "The Last Human on the Archipelago" is a story about subverting expectations and the assumptions we make about the world.
