In 1973, when I was fourteen years old, my grandfather told me a story about his father. He said his father was the first Jewish Texas Ranger and rode a big black stallion. He said he was a great lawman who stood up for justice and tried to protect good people against a lot of bad men and those bad men were the richest and most powerful men of their time. It was a losing cause, and so my great-grandfather was forgotten, like most of us are forgotten, like so many hopes and dreams become forgotten.
Let me take you on a journey into the old West and the early days of Hollywood. You'll find my grandmother was there too. She was a flapper girl in the 1920's. She liked to smoke and drink and party all night and have fun. She was something else and I miss her. Take my hand and I'll take you back to a time and place where the world used to spin, where you'll find people who had style and lived life with a passion.
