Against many people's fears and warnings, A.I. started off as an innocent project spawned by the curiosities of scientists and tech entrepreneurs alike. It eventually evolved into a complete robot uprising.
It has been 5 years since the Automation War has ended. Billions of lives have been lost and disrupted. Society hardly resembles that which we once knew. The remaining survivors have attempted to pick up the pieces of their once shattered lives.
Learning from their mistakes of the past, A.I. has been outlawed and strict measures are in place to protect the human species from extinction.
Out of the rubble, a new government has formed and risen to power. They call themselves The Shadow - a group of anonymous hackers who control every aspect of civilization. They monitor its citizens through chip implants, which measure every aspect of their lives from their happiness, productivity, and overall contribution to society, etc. Low performers are systematically round up, and shipped off to be executed.
In a hyper-connected world where every move is tracked and even predicted, nine strangers must figure out how to stop this group and restore order in the world.

They weren't wrong. but it was too late. They managed to save Earth- eradicating pollution and reversing global warming but they killed anyone who got in their way and indoctrinated the rest. Those who remained revolted. World War III resulted- killing the planet. The War ended but the battle was not won. The fight continues on, despite the destroyed society and Earth we call home. It's a relentless fight between those who want the world to go back to the way it was and those who still fight to hold on to their humanity- no matter what. Seventy-four years has been long enough. The way of the infamous Hunger Games has been altered. No longer is every Gamemaker out to devise the worst means of torture and death for every tribute. No longer are the people of Panem outwardly tolerant of President Snow's murderous actions. Under the facade of a normal group of Gamemakers, several rebellious citizens have begun an experiment which, if it succeeds, will make use of technology both to rescue the tributes before they are dead and then deposit the brainwashed children back in time. They have to try it. No one knows what horrors future Hunger Games may bring, and the desperate rebels are willing to try anything. Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of District 2, Cato Hadley and Clove Kentwell have trained their whole lives for the Games. Nevertheless, their ambitions change when they, without meaning to, find themselves in the Games together. They are both determined to win. But if they don't, what will happen to them? The brainwashed tributes who land in New York City know nothing of who they are or where they are from. They do not remember Panem, or the Games, or even their own names.
