[ATLA X OC] "You see my face in every place, but you can't catch me now." Awena, an orphan from the Southern Water Tribe, has always struggled with loneliness, a feeling that has only deepened since her parents disappeared on a dangerous mission four years ago. Though her mother, a waterbender, had never been close to her, it was her father, who taught her the ways of the tribe, that left an irreplaceable void. Now, Awena exists in a quiet, aching solitude, observing the close-knit relationships around her, like the sibling bond between Sokka and Katara, which only emphasises her own isolation. However, Awena's sense of loneliness is disrupted by strange and inexplicable occurrences, from a shift in the air when she speaks, to prophetic dreams that leave her unsettled. The world seems to react to her emotions in ways she can't understand, making her question her place in it. Despite her confusion, she pushes forward, determined not to be consumed by her fears. When a strange boy, Aang, is discovered frozen in ice, Awena is drawn to him, feeling a sense of deep, unexplainable familiarity. Aang, the last airbender, emerges from his ice prison to a world that has forgotten his kind, and his arrival stirs something within Awena. As she witnesses Aang's first steps into this new world, she feels a strange connection to him, something far beyond curiosity. Their paths intertwine as Aang begins to search for his lost sky bison, Appa, and Awena faces the growing realisation that her life is about to change in ways she never expected.
