Every 100 years Caelia, the last of an ancient race, visits the ruins of her ancient city, Avila, whether she wants to or not, and every pilgrimage she swears will be her last. Her once beautiful world of Eos is dying, growing colder and more desolate with each passing century, ravaged long ago by a terror her people had unwittingly unleashed on the world. She had made sure the creature paid with its life long ago, and now once again she comes to spit on its secret tomb. But this time the tomb is empty, and the weapon that destroyed it is missing. In the capital city of Mons, Maeia, an oracle and deadly assassin from a secret sisterhood, is tasked by the emperor with examining a sealed sarcophagus impaled with a mysterious sword. But upon removing the sword, the sarcophagus opens, and a powerful vision reveals to her this body is the prison for a destroyer that desperately seeks to escape. And now the mummy is starting to show signs of life. Would she be able to destroy the monster if it escaped? Where would she even begin to look to find answers?
