I fell backwards as his sleek new figure stood protectively in front of me. He snarled at the other things around us until they whimpered and disappeared into the thick pine forest. He stood there for a while, then turned to look at me with literal puppy eyes. I gripped the ground underneath me, horrified but comfortable. I was out of breath as I merely whispered, "Wh-what are you?" He looked away for a second, then looked back at me and bowed his head, a gleam in his eyes. He advanced towards me and nudged my hand up. When I placed my hand on the wolf's head, I knew exactly what he was.
