Koi has stolen a soul. In Penon, no death lasts forever. This particular soul took the shape of a pearl, and he is the perfect final ingredient for Koi's new experiment in building and animating an artificial body. It's perhaps the worst err in magical ethics she's made in all her twenty years of practice, but what's one more for the list? What's one more, that is, until said soul's sister arrives at her door, in the shape of a bear, threatening to rip her to shreds in the blink of an eye. And so Koi, a fairy, the sister, and the soul set off on the world's worst camping trip to build a body that is actually compatible for the boy, all the while avoiding fairy-hunters, old acquaintances, mysterious voices in the night, and golden portals popping up all over the place, spitting out strange folk and sucking up the inhabitants of Penon, never to be seen again... ---------------------------- ~ This story will update once a week ~ * All images are either sourced from Wikimedia Commons (under public domain/no known copyright restrictions/Creative Commons licensing) or illustrated by myself. *
