They have spent their entire lives living on the Arc, avoiding the radioactively soaked Earth for almost 100 years. As oxygen is running out the Chancellor sends 100 delinquents on a suicide mission to Earth in a feeble attempt to see if they can return home to the ground. 

Included amongst the 100 is criminal Avery Armelle, an apprentice engineer on the Arc before her imprisonment. On the ground she will have to use her sharp tongue and clever wit to help the other ninety nine prisoners not only survive the ground, but thrive.
