It's been three months since Lyla, Aveline, and Ari's adventure rescuing the kidnapped princes and princesses in Diviel, and Lyla couldn't be more content. Her kingdom has welcomed her back with open arms, and she is free to travel the ocean as she wishes with Apreuna's cheeky new emissaries Ari and Aveline.
But not everyone is enjoying palace life; Aveline and Ari are growing impatient with the royal balls, luxurious attires and restricting lifestyles of the upper-class. So when a new, albeit odd assignment opens up in the colorful Eastern kingdom of Verignes, they jump at the chance to get away.
But when strange things start happening, they realize that something dark is lurking underneath the ostentatious ways of the kingdom- and Lyla, Ari, and Aveline are determined to figure out just what it is. In the next installment of the Kings and Thieves series, Lyla and her pirates must face the threat of new enemies with old friends as they struggle to protect the innocent inhabitants of their world - people and creatures alike.
