Nova had been floating through life since her birth. Her parents weren't important in the Elvin world, and she wasn't any closer to becoming important. At fifteen all her friends manifested in abilities, and she was worried that, like her talentless parents, she wouldn't as well. That is until finally she gets her ability. But, she almost wish she hadn't with what ensues.

Sophie Foster thought she was a human, lived like a human for 12 years, except she wasn't. When she was 5, she started reading other people's minds, and when she was 12, she discovered the truth. A boy found her, and took her to where she belonged, with other elves - because she is an elf too. She never was normal, and even in a place with others of her race, she still didn't quite fit in. But only a few days after her arrival in District 11 - her soon to be home, the council, the rulers of all 12 districts, were overthrown by a group called the Neverseen. And what had before been a covert way of scaring people and their faith in the council became a public tradition - once a year, two people from each district would be selected and told to fight to the death. And when Sophie's adoptive mother gets chosen, Sophie takes her place. But she never did fit in, because she isn't just an elf, she's something else. Something more. But when you have power, you have people who want to steal and destroy it. May the odds ever be in her favour... Extract: "Don't do this," Sophie whispered into her ear. She shook her head. "Mom, Dad - I love you. And I'm sorry," she said to the camera. Sophie's face was red and puffy with tears now, but she didn't care. "Let me be brave," she whispered to herself, inaudible to everyone except her. "Let me be brave, let me be brave, let me be brave." 211 in hungergames - 29.10.20 76 in hungergames- 28.12.20 Based off the bestselling Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger

Finding out that your parents, the people that raised you your whole life, weren't your actual parents was hard. Being told at the ripe ol' age of eighteen that you're the last living member from an Ancient Shifter line, the one responsible for creating the First Shifters, was inconceivable. Especially when a group of assassins were on their way to exterminate me simply for just existing. Kidnapped from my bed by three extremely stunning and grumpy Alphas, and forced to attend a special Shifter University located in the middle of nowhere, I have to navigate an unfamiliar and unknown secreted world while simultaneously trying avoiding those who want to use my lineage to enact an age-old curse. Join Nova Nyx as she's dragged into a world full of Shifters, Secrets, and Startling Surprises. ~~~ "Mates?" I repeated owlishly, blinking rapidly at the one worded bomb they just dropped on me "What are Mates?" Instead of answering my question, they just stared back at me in silence, arms crossed over their broad chests. I ignored their silence, choosing to focus on second part of their sentence. "And you're telling me I have three of them?" I gawked "How many are you supposed to get? I can barely handle myself and my life at this point and you want me to worry about three other people?" Of course the most annoying man I've ever met smirked at my bafflement. "I don't think it'll be such a hardship for you" he said, arrogance lacing his tone "After all, I hear these three Mates of yours are very self-sufficient." "Don't forget extremely gorgeous" his Buffon of a friend chimed in, winking at me "That's a plus for you Princess." "One," the third one growled out at me, finally speaking up and adding subsistence to the conversation, startling the banter from the other two "You're only supposed to be blessed with one Mate in your entire lifetime."

{PART 1 OF AN ONGOING SERIES} Life has its struggles, especially when one is born different from everyone else on the planet. Nova Susan Song is no ordinary teenage girl from Earth. In fact, she is not from Earth at all. She possesses these 'abilities' that she does not know the origins of, such as a high IQ that is much greater than any of her peers and to be able to make her skin glow gold and heal any injury at will, but her adoptive human parents urge her to keep these 'powers' secret from anyone she meets, including her best friend. With no clue as to why, Nova spends most of her life researching where her abilities originally came from and concludes that they must have come from her biological parents, who had given her up for adoption when she was just a few days old to be protected from a danger she does not understand--a danger known as the Vokanari, a.k.a. The Silence. And they want her to be their next weapon against her own father, the Doctor. When her best friend and human guardians are kidnapped, Nova joins her biological parents through Time and Space to find them and, along the way, learns the true meaning and responsibilities of being a Time Lord. ----------------------------- Other stories in the "Nova Sue" series: *** PREQUEL "Arising: A Nova Sue Prequel (PART 1.5)" COMPLETE*** *** SEQUEL "the odd life of Nova Sue -- Part 2: Discovering" IN PROGRESS *** NOTE: I am also working on a Harry Potter series that's based on the Hogwarts Mystery mobile game.
