Growing up is difficult. The body goes through changes. Hormones mess with you. Everyone gets bullied at one point by someone. For Zora, it was worse. Not only was she bullied at school, she was bullied at home, abused by her father. It wasn't as though she could blame him. She was a disgrace in his eyes. But with nothing but constant torture being thrown her way, she needed one thing about her daily life that gave her hope and made her feel good about herself. Though it caused her to be bullied even more, she didn't care. She would live her life out and proud as a woman, despite how everyone in her town viewed her as a man.

Hope seemed to look up for Zora when her father died, prompting her to move in with her mother and stepbrother in New York. Finally able to move out of rural Georgia from the transphobic and homophobic community, she looks forward to a new start. New friends, new family, and a new attitude on life.

Things don't always go the way she wants, what with her brother not understanding the concept of being transgender and a bully planning to send her life on a roller coaster ride. But good things are to follow, with a mother who loves and accepts her, friends who plan to stick by her side, and a cute boy who finds her to contain the most beautiful soul he had ever seen. A new school means a new start, and she plans to educate those who don't understand who she is.

If the world won't change for her, she'll just have to change it herself.
