A retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone --
For as long as Persephone can remember it has always been her and her mother. Until one day, a stranger appears, causing her to have unfamiliar feelings-her world changes when her mother persuades her to go to the Underworld with him. In a place much different than the sheltered one she is used to, she will learn things about herself that were unknown even to her. Will she learn to embrace them or shy away from them altogether?
Hades has always been content to remain in the Underworld, ruling over the dead just as intended. He learned to settle for what he had been given long ago. But after an unplanned visit to his sister, he may have just changed his mind. Will his new guest embrace the darkness of his world, or will he remain within it alone for eternity?

***Update! Guys, Dark Petals is now complete and available on Amazon including ebook (free through kindle unlimited) and paperback! There were some chapters added including an epilogue. I would love for you guys to check it out. If not for you guys I don't know if this story would have been completed. It started out as something I wrote for fun when I was stressed. This is a rewrite of my previous fan fiction "Tales of Hades and Persephone" as well as some inspiration from the original myth (and perhaps other retellings I enjoy). Hades has been alone for far too long. One day he pays a visit to Zeus and requests to marry Persephone. The King of the Gods agrees and even recommends Hades kidnap Persephone, since it's unlikely Demeter will agree to the marriage. Persephone is a young Goddess of Earth curious about the world of the mortals. She's always helping her mother Demeter, but one day while watching the mortals she wanders off only to fun into a handsome stranger. After a brief conversation, Persephone finds herself swept away to the Underworld. Will Hades manage to get Persephone to fall in love with him? What will Demeter do when she discovers her daughter is missing and it's all Zeus' fault? Will the mortals be able to survive the wrath of the Gods?Complete
Flowers and Shadows
Hades and Persephone is a story that has so many different sides to it. Some people romanticize their relationship (often without taking into account certain aspects of the myth) while others insist that Hades was nothing but perverse and awful... even though taking Persephone, after having her father's permission, was quite normal for the time! This is a retelling of the ancient myth, with all the ancient components to it. I researched the story from many different sources and tried to make it as accurate as possible. The only writer's license was the amount of time she spent in the Underworld before Hermes came-- I never found an exact number, so I wrote it as six months, partly so that they had time to truly fall for each other, partly so that she would return to the mortal realm immediately after being returned to Demeter. Persephone is a character who understands the place goddesses and women have in the world, understands the normalcy of her capture, but still struggles with feeling like it's unjust. Hades is a god with few romantic relationships in his past (Leuce and Minthe) who hadn't fallen for anyone for a while and wasn't quite sure how to treat a goddess in a realm he never visited.
