Lizzie was happy. Yes, her family had their problems but they were a family, and isn't that all that mattered? But after a terrible suicide bombing in Wall Street, Lizzie isn't sure she has a family any more. Both parents dead, her little sister in the hospital and unrecognizable from third degree burns she is forced to move to Maine with her Grandmother, Celia Hurst, trying to repair what is left of her family and herself. Marid was just trying to survive on the streets of New York with his older brother who is struggling to make the monthly rent, but despite their financial problems, he was content with the way things were. But after being called in by the FBI Marid's world is turned upside down and is now facing jail time for a crime he didn't commit. Homeless and facing conviction, a strange old women named Celia Hurst offers to give him a new home.
