Forever And A Day
At the age of six years old I was already engaged to my next door neighbours' ten year old son. It was a silly game I use to make him play in the tree house that his dad made him in the oak tree that towered over the fence that split mine and his garden in two. I use to go round everyday for hours and we would stay up there playing happy families with my little baby doll. You'd think an ten year old boy would not want to play with his six year old neighbour, especially if she was a girl. But he always did with no complaints, not when I made him change our baby-doll daughter, Abby's nappy or pretend to cook dinner for our little family, he would always do it with a smile. No matter the weather or if one of us was I'll we would always be together me, him and Abby sometimes pretending to be a family or other times when we were playing hide and seek or reading stories. We would spend hours in our own little world until my parent's would come searching for me, calling that it was time for dinner and to say goodbye. I'd say he was my best friend but to be honest he was my only friend, as a child I never bothered talking to other children, I spent all my time with Sonny. I think that it was this that worried my parents enough to move us half way across America, from the small state of Michigan to the sun shine state of California. For ten years we stayed in Cali until my dad decided it was time to go back. Back to the house that I left years ago, back to the boy who spent every day making me smile and back to the life I left behind.
