Mary, a motherless teen from Boston, forgoes an acceptance at Cornell for a year in Italy. Mary thinks she has it made: freedom from her father's tight grip, a palatial apartment, and a cute Italian busboy flirting with her. But when her internship placement doesn't go the way she planned, she ends up at Casa Salva, a bed and breakfast on a working farm. There, Mary meets the serene owner, Graziella, and her independent, home-schooled daughter, Giuliana. When Casa Salva is threatened by a long standing plot for vengeance, Mary may be the only one who can help.
