Supernatural meets Grumpy Old Men.

Richard had always believed he'd enjoy a few golden years before Death's bony hand reached for him. But what does he get? He gets to live across the hall from friggin' Stan Kapcheck with his shiny bald head and perfect teeth that were all his own, Stan Kapcheck who struts around like a peacock in his leather coat.

Honestly! What kind of respectable senior citizen wears leather?

But Stanley isn't your average senior citizen. He's a Hunter--a slayer of all things unnatural. He reveals to Richard that the one monster which has eluded him is the same beast that killed Richard's wife and it's due to kill again before the next new moon. The two men load up on ibuprofen and prune juice and embark on a cross-country demon-hunting adventure, but when The Devil Herself kidnaps Stanley, Richard realizes the line between Hunter and hunted is very thin, indeed, and the ornery octogenarian only has a few days left to trap The Devil, save Stanley, and slay the monster who murdered his bride.

I used his now still chest to push myself up on steady hands, puffing a loose hair out of my face I considered the head, barely attached to the side of the vampire's shoulders. Then I retrieved the short sword at my back, while I swung the sword in a full arc, I expelled a small huff of breath and severed the head of the monster that had stolen Isabelle. The vamp's mass now blocked the front door, so I threw the head out the opening and heard it thump down the stairs. I felt eyes watching me. I scanned my surroundings expecting to witness the mystery vampire from earlier attempt to sneak up on me. Instead, I met the dull brown eyes of a little girl curled up in the corner. "Who are you?" Way too calm for the current situation, her soft voice contrasted in the macabre cabin. There was a good chance she was in shock. "My name is Aisling and I kill the monsters," I said, rising from the squatting position I had assumed to evaluate Isabella's injuries. "How did you know he was a monster?" The sound of raw pain and misplaced admiration in her voice broke my heart. "Oh, honey. They're all monsters." When vengeful Aisling Brooks must pretend to date Master vampire Roderick Keats, he tries his best to rock her views of the supernatural community. That doesn't stop her from trying to kill him though. Immersed in the very world she hates, Aisling must find the person that hired her or forfeit her life and those of her friends. Roderick becomes detached after her assassination attempt, while Aisling is cut off from her friends and help. It seems as if all of Roderick's people are aloof at best and homicidal at worst. As her preconceived ideals crumble beneath her, Aisling finds Roderick isn't the only one being hunted by the mysterious benefactor. While discovering that she might be the worst detective in history Aisling is sure of one thing: part of her will not survive trying to kill Roderick Keats.

"Yes, I am!!!" Kaede leans down to her ear his hot breath tickling her cheek in a tantalizing way, as swooping butterflies made way to her stomach. "I see. But that doesn't change the fact that you're a idiotic female, who will only serve as a distraction." The fluttering butterflies froze in her stomach and spiraled into icy icicles, as fury wraped tightly around her mind. "Indeed, I am a girl. But I'm also an idiotic girl who will follow you anyway. Even if her insufferable bodyguard says no." Emoriah, whispers threateningly. Kaede's dark penetrating gaze burns Emoriah to her core, as he peers down on her frame with a hardened expression upon his face. "You're playing a losing game Emoriah. But very well come. It seems I have no other choice." Emoriah smiles behind her hand before lifting her eyes to meet his stormy gaze. "No, you really don't." .. Emoriah isn't just an average 15-year-old girl. She grew up bullied without a fatherly figure. But what made her different was the day she burned her school down. That's when the numerous secrets spilled their way from her mother's lips. Emoriah learned she wasn't as human as she thought. That her father never left them but went missing. But most importantly he was a king. A king of another world. A world of dragons, creatures, and demons from hell. With her feminist views and fiery spirit she'll let no man stand in her way. But could one icy mask of a boy change her mind?
