On Hold • Something Called Revenge
In which her original plan was to take revenge, but without realizing it, she is creating this unbreakable bond with them.
"So, how much will it help us if, say, I sent his sister to the nurse's office," I said, mumbling out the last words without looking straight at him.
"I mean, not at all since he's probably gonna hunt us down- wait."
I shut my eyes, guilty.
"No you did not."
"I did," I buried my face in my hands.
"You mean the girl you were talking about at lunch is-"
I nodded, finally gathering the courage to look at him.
River pinched the bridge of his nose like he always does when he's either mad or when he just doesn't know what to do next.
"That's fine. It's fine," he said, "We're The Twins. I don't think he'll mess with us, yet."
"But he doesn't know that. To them, we're just the new kids in school." I reminded him.
"Well then let's change that."
I looked at him. "What?"
He shook his head. "Just, never mind. We'll figure this out tomorrow."
River stood up from the bed and walked over to my door.
"Wait!" I stopped him.
River's hand landed on the knob already but he turned to look back at me.
"Are you sure it's him? Did you see anybody else familiar?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure. And, I think I might have. But, I didn't really care. I mean, we don't really care about the other people. Right?" He told me.
I nodded slowly.
"Okay, good night," I said.
"Go back to sleep."
He stepped out and closed the door.
Looks like my plan of staying low won't work for too long.
