**THIS STORY IS BEING EDITED ENORMOUSLY, A LOT OF THINGS MAY CHANGE. PLEASE DO NOT THINK YOU MISSED A CHAPTER IF IT SUDDENLY JUMPS FROM 11 TO 13, OR 25 TO 28. I SIMPLY MERGED A COUPLE CHAPTERS TOGETHER AND DIDN'T GET AROUND TO CHANGING THE CHAPTER NUMBERS FOR EVERYTHING**
For as long as she could recall, it's only ever been Ash and her mother. With the somewhat exception of her spunky, outrageous best friend Violet, Ash has kept a quiet life.
At least that's what she wants the people closest to her to believe. Ash has a secret, one that's she's starting to become more remorseful and ashamed of as the days go on. Her secret has a name and is slowly turning into what used to be her happiness- a nightmare. One particularly coincidental -and painful- day for Ash turns into something she can't figure out how to label other than a twisted act of fate.
Aidan Hems left Ash's life when they were both only small children who loved making mud pies and telling innocent lies. Just like his long lost childhood best friend, Aidan kept a much darker and dangerous shadow following his every step. Only Ash can't ever figure his, like he can hers.
Now what would you do if one boy from your past came back years later, the mud that once covered his face replaced with a slight scruff, and the mischievous look in his eyes now holding back a dozen different secrets.
Well you'd have plenty of time to figure it out, especially when the mystery moves in across the hall from you. Ash starts realizing that she can no longer stay hidden in her room over the weekends with her nose in a book, or brush off her family and friend's comments about why she always looked tired and bruised.
She needed to save Aidan, just as much as he needed to save her.
