Maeve London is a not a superhero.
As impressive as running immensely fast and scaling building sounds, Maeve is alright not taking part in these hobbies. Instead, Maeve participates in them a different way - comics.
She reads, watches, eats, sleeps, and breathes comics. She wears a batman onesie every night. She has a small action figure of her favorite superhero beside her bed.
Maeve London is not a superhero.
But Finn Lanrick is.
Finn Lanrick, also known as Flashback, is Maeve's all-time favorite good guy. Part of the comic series "The Fifty Three," Finn is known for his powers to look deep into the pasts of others and erupt old memories, carefully selecting emotions to bubble up unannounced and unwanted . . . comes quite in handy.
Maeve has been madly in love with the fictional Finn Lanrick ever since her first time reading "The Fifty Three," and even to this day, sixteen year old Maeve London has a special place in her heart for Mr. Feelings, the boy ironically devoid of any emotion himself.
However, when the doorbell sounds a multitude of times in a late-night panic, the lost teen asking for his parents on her doorstep claims he's Finn Lanrick, the fictional superhero himself.
The comics are alive.
The fifty three genetically-mutated humans experimented on were here, in Maeve's world.
Some of them wreaking havoc, whereas others just prayed to find home. In a world where her fantasies become her nightmares, Maeve London is a mess.
The perks of being a comic fanatic, Maeve realizes that in the midst of chaos, she holds the helpful key to hopefully stop these invincible humans (with the help of Finn Lanrick), the key being the very thing that started it all: the comics.
