Back to the pre-hispanic era, the Tondo Dynasty, The Rose is a Filipino adaptation and inspired on the popular Chinese novel and TV series Bu Bu Jing Xin and Korean series Moon Lovers - Scarlert Heart: Ryeo.
Synopsis: After "The Big One" (a magnitude 8 earthquake) struck Metro Manila and it's nearby provinces, a 25-year-old 21st century woman, Scarlet Dulay, is transported back in time during a total solar eclipse to Tundo Dynasty (Kingdom of Tundo, an empire which almost cover the entire Luzon island of the Philippine archepelago and it's capital was located in the Manila Bay area, specifically north of the Pasig River).
Scarlet wakes up in the year 1380, in the body of 16 years old Mayumi, a young daughter of a Maginoo and younger sister of Lualhati who was the wife of the King's (Rajah) eighth grandson... and there, she encounters the many royal princes of the ruling family of Rajah Alon. She initially falls in love with the gentle, warm and virtuous 8th Prince Arvan, and later Prince Makisig, the fearsome 4th Prince who hides his face behind a mask and is given the derogatory label "mabangis na hayop" (dangerous animal).
Meanwhile, rivalry and politics ensue among the princes, in a fight for the throne, as Mayumi finds herself unwittingly caught between it all.
