A young man, Robert, decides to purchase a means of transportation to save commuting costs. He lives in a small town, Palin. A large two lane road, Main Avenue, connecting two large cities, Delth and Lien, runs directly through Palin. Robert is applying for jobs and heading to interviews in Delth and Lien from his mother's home, both are an hour away. His mother, Luna, is a ninety-three year old farmer unable to completely retire from working two farms to focus on her own farm leisurely, even while collecting a monthly social security check. Luna pays for her and her son's expenses. Yet, Luna's income is barely supporting the both of them, and Robert's taxi trips into Delth and Lien are costing more than either of them are able to handle. Robert is a recent college graduate getting interviews for jobs. He and his mother decide on him getting a cost-effective form of transportation to ease their financial burden. She gives her son $500.00. Robert promises to never ask his mother for money again. She smiles at him. Robert exits the house in search of his new form of transportation, and Main Avenue becomes one of the costliest rides of his life.
