The Crest of Waves ?
A crest is the point on a wave with the maximum value or upward displacement within a cycle. A crest is a point on the wave where the displacement of the medium is at a maximum.
A trough is the opposite of a crest, so the minimum or lowest point in a cycle. A point on the wave is a trough if the displacement of the medium.
Richard and Nicomaine were at the crest of the waves; the height of their careers while holding each other's hand. They were having the time of their lives; they were in love with their life, their careers and--with each other.
But a little too much of everything can be destructive too. A wave, after all, is a cycle. It hits the crest but after that, it meets the trough. They hit the rock bottom, together. Until it was too painful to still hold on.
2 years after the 'Phenomenon' died down,
2 years after she walked out the door,
2 years after he changed into someone new
2 years after they went separate ways,
2 years after they chose to let go of their love.
2 years and their lives changed.
Will the waves finally reach the shore? Will they make it back to the crest together? Will they ever make it through?
