Josiah catches me with both hands wrapped around my arms, forces me in front of him. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, little bro, where - are you crying?"
I sniffle, turn away to face the wall. "No, I - I mean yes, but . . ."
He ducks down a bit, if only to reach my height. "What happened, what's wrong?"
"We're too different, Josiah. Mako and I? It'll never work -"
"Did anything happen?"
"No, but -"
"Then why are you freaking out so bad?"
I shake my head, break out of his hold and leave him behind.
I'm just so damn tired of getting hurt.
Arie Bishop is what some would call an asshole - snarky, rude, and an overall pain to be around. Arie's okay with being alone, really. Having no one around to bother him or force him to be nice is just how he likes it, but lately, a certain guy just won't stay away.
Mako never wanted to hurt Arie - he just wanted to be nice to his best friend's brother, and look where that got him. All he wants to do is get off of Arie's shit list, and erase the guilt he feels over hurting him. He will make it up to Arie, no matter what.
