Among the gods of dreams who had been banished to the mortal realm for their foolishness, only Phantasos bore his penance with eagerness and gratitude. His eldest brother, Morpheus, had called him a sycophant. The weaver of fantasies did not contest the judgment because it was true he had always fancied the complicated race.

But no one fascinated him more than the woman who lived next door.

To all appearances, Robyn Sparrow had the most mundane existence. She was a creature of habit. Like clockwork, she'd step out of her house twice in the morning--at six and at nine regardless if it were a workday or not, she'd be home by ten, and never later to bed than midnight. Every day, she tied her hair in a high ponytail as she completed her morning run, then she'd pull her hair into a tight bun as she worked till evening.

Phantasos was inexplicably intrigued. He wondered if Robyn let her hair down in more ways than one when she dreamt at night.
