That's what they're called, beings that protect the mundane world from demons, beings that are half-angel and half-human. They only have one task, and that's to keep all demons at bay until the time arrives where they can slaughter all demon-kind. 

Ophelia Morgenstern is a shadowhunter who can't seem to get through a day without making a sarcastic remark. She's undoubtedly one of the best at what she does, but she's also the daughter of the most wanted man in the Shadow World. 

Alec Lightwood is a brooding shadowhunter with the tendencies of following the rules no matter what. He basically lives his life on the saying, "Sed lex, dura lex." which means "The law is hard, but it is the law."

They've known each other for practically their whole lives, and they have always felt a burst of emotions around one another, but with the arrival of the "new" shadowhunter, their whole world flips on its back. With everything that's going on around them, will they gain sight of the feelings they truly have for one another?
