In those days in the Promised Land, there was no king and every man did that which was right in his own eyes. Jephthah, the son of a whore, was pushed into exile from his birthplace of Gilead to the land of Tob.
Rebecca grew up there, without a mother's love and with her eyes always fixed westward. To her own promised land. The land that is their birthright.
Jephthah makes a vow he cannot take back to the most puissant Being in the universe. Rebecca must die for her love, joy and music. She will have no scapegoat. She will not be unbound.
This is the story of her sixty days of mourning. These are her laments.
