Turning, my eyes landed on the small girl, her body rigid with fear and her legs shaking as she stared into the trees. My head snapped up to where her gaze was fixed, and my eyes were met with a pair of yellow ones. A low growl rose from the creature, quickly replaced by Dawn's shriek. My legs flew without my order as I bounded towards her, knocking her to the ground. With a snarl the creature leapt into the sunlight. My muscles froze as he came closer, intelligent eyes locked on my own only inches apart. My breath stopped in my throat. Slowly, deliberately, he touched his muzzle to my forehead.
"A wolf" I thought, before darkness took me.
