The New Alpha
For years the Adair Pack had been picked off member by member, lowering the number of followers greatly with each passing day. It had been easy, and all of the other packs knew it. They also knew why the members were so easy to kill off. It was obvious even to the pups that the Adair Pack no longer had a connection within its own family. They were no longer sharing their memories or their secrets or their feelings. They were no longer taught how to fight or to defend. Instead, their Alpha led them through a life of pain, misery, and fear. Until three years ago, anyway. Three years ago, on a cold fall morning, the Alpha was challenged, and defeated. No one within the pack would tell outsiders who their new Alpha was, no matter what the reason. It was obvious they had become protective over this Alpha, something that was understood by other packs when they realized that the Adair Pack had changed. They were no longer scared and distant from one another. They worked together and they fought with such strategy and strength that it was apparent they had a good strong leader on their hands. To have changed a pack so quickly after it had been led so far astray for the past seven years was a miracle to all who witnessed it. So, the Adair Pack became the talk of all packs, for they wanted greatly to meet The New Alpha.
