Running. That was all he could do, was run. Past the rooms he had spent his entire life in. Up the winding staircase he went, nearly falling backward toward the the danger below. He kept going, all the way to the balcony on the roof, where he stopped. There was nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. And then she came, bursting through the door. All he saw was a blast of white light, nearly blinding him. He had no way out. He couldn't escape. So he jumped. Throughout the confusion, he barely registered his skin becoming hard, and almost like stones. As he fell, he became... something. Suddenly he wasn't falling anymore. He was flying.
