To Love a Monster
When I frown, he smiles.
When I cry, he laughs.
"No one, Imogen. The answer is no one. I am the only one who loves you. No one else cares about you. You're lucky I do. I could leave, forget about you. It would be so easy for me, you know that Imogen. I stay because you're so pathetic no one else would want you, and I feel sorry for you. I'm the only one who has been here with you, I'm the only one who will ever be here with you" he stops and immediately leans in. I close my eyes and feel his lips softly press against my cheekbone "I love you Imogen. Can't you see that?" before I can answer he pulls away and storms out of the kitchen.
He is both beautiful and terrifying. One moment he is sweet and the next ruthless. The scars covering his body are constant reminders of the people he has hurt and the things he has done. Like a storm, he brings chaos and confusion wherever he goes. He is nothing less than a monster. A monster that Imogen just so happens to love.
