Valkyrie: Book one of the Cassia series.
From land to sky, to water to fire.
To the greatest, of them all, their hearts desire.
Claim the phoenix, claim the land,
Only the winners can make the last stand.
Fifty three years ago, the gods finally came down from the heavens. Only this time, instead of bestowing gifts on us all, the said that they came to punish us all. So they gave us, human kind, the elemental trials, of earth, land, sky, and fire.
Of those that survived, became peasants, slaves practically, meant to honor the chosen few, and the gods.
But what they didn't know was that one of them gave us gifts.
Loki, the trickster has always loved mankind. So he gave us the last essence of his soul to help us. To bad it wasn't enough. So now we sit like chained mutts waiting to have our chance. One day we will be free. One day, this age of the gods will be over. But that day is still far away.
Cassia is a Rebellious teen in the age when the gods have claimed Midgard as their own, when children are swept away to be slaves, when one say a wrong word and gets shot, and when power given mortals strut around keeping order.
Cassia has one rule; To follow her gut. But when she is taken because she was caught 'borrowing' food, she will be faced with the hardest choices in her life. Enlisted as a Valkyrie, she must struggle between friendships, loyalty, and her own personal agenda.
But whispers and rumors are like sand in the wind; everywhere, and the threads of war are slowly draping themselves across the loom, trying to create their horrible tapestry.
And talk of a rebel group calling themselves the Hœnir are moving quickly, with people looking for suspects. Suspects like Cassia. Either way, all Cassia's goal is this: Survive.
