[Completed] A U.S. expatriate is cast into a rainy, foggy corner of Europe. He went there on the pretense to work on his research, but he actually wanted to put as many miles as possible between himself and his ex.

The university he works for has found him an apartment in a house inhabited by a set of strange characters.

The mess begins with a broken egg.

And it continues with his neighbor being murdered.

And somehow, the ticking of a clock always deepens a silence instead of interrupting it. All those little night sounds do that, and you used them really well here to build atmosphere.

Nice to see an MC who's older than fifteen for a change XDD. That dream sounded nice - I'd hate to be woken from it, too.
That might sound really mean now but my Inner Austrian is wart of elderly people with German sounding names who have spent parts of their past in Latin America... 😅

I like the start (did I ever say you’re a gifted writer? ;) ), and I love parodies, so I’ll stay around!

Great story, but I found the ending rushed and tbh a bit of a cop out.
