I whirled, slinging the knife in a fluid movement. It hit the dummy in the head and fake blood trickled out, coating the face and chest of the plastic mannequin.
Sensing movement behind me, I spun around, pulling the handgun from my waist out.
Holograms surged at me and I fired, once, twice, three times before ducking behind a crate and refilling the magazines.
I threw out punches, hitting and slamming my knuckles again and again, until the muscle memory did it for me.
After a minute of shooting, there was dead silence. I was done.
Avery Green is sailing through life. Or, at least, she hopes she is. She's part of a crime-busting organisation, she's lying to her family about her whereabouts, and best of all, she likes a guy who is the enemy. Could fate dig a hole deeper than the one she was already in?
Mason Woods is said enemy. He's angry at his controlling father, sick of being in the gang life. Until Avery walks - well, struts - into his life. Curious as to who the beautiful girl was, he searches for her, and as he plummets further into a web of lies, he begins to question whether the blue-eyed girl is really worth it all.
The pair of them are on opposite sides - Avery is part of the Salvation, and Mason works for the Damnation. It's a relationship destined to fail, especially when you throw in a bunch of violence, mafias, and blood-thirsty criminals.
As the two fall deeper and deeper in love, everything they've ever known will be questioned. Including the ones they love the most.
Including each other.
Because maybe the fairy tales were wrong. Maybe the Prince needed love and salvation just as much as the Princess did...
A story full of action, intrigue and romance, with characters you'll pledge your heart to - though not all of them will make it...
