It might look picturesque sitting by the river, but this house belonged to a family with a feud. More than that, a murderous feud. Will the film maker that approaches get out alive? This is my first attempt at the horror genre for a short story comp, please provide me with any feedback or suggestions!

Nishita Verma, a researcher by profession has been away from home for ten long years. Excited to come back to her home and seeing her parents after such a long time, she was overwhelmed with the amount of love she got from her parents and happiness from the remembrance of those beautiful nostalgic moments. But there was something which was not right. She was able to unveil a few things that was not normal. Will she be able to unfold the reasons of the abnormal environment? What exactly happened in those ten years. The story revolves around the journey of Dr. Nishita and her experiences of unveiling certain unexpected events. Liz leads pretty cosy life; she got "the perfect" boyfriend, she belongs to the group of the most liked girls in the school and attend all the parties she wants. She should be the happiest girl on earth when she is in the middle of the house party in her "besties" house. But then she meets Anastasia. One girl and Liz finally understood what it meant to be head over heels for someone. And the night isn't even over just yet... *I am not an English native and I am still learning. My best friend is Grammarly and my boyfriend who is Australian so please don't go too hard on the grammar. This is the short story I had created as an entry for the Odd Voice Out Publishing competition "Not so Normal Narrators." The cover I had found on Pinterest and couldn't find the artist. Christmas Jones did not want to be in this situation. A former thief turned street magician, she's not used to having any kind of attention: but when a bad therapy appointment, a stolen police file and several miscellaneous crimes combine, she finds herself at the centre of a strange story. A missing man. A sinister pastor. And a pirate themed birthday party. Will Jones solve the mystery? Will she get arrested? Whatever happens: she's going to need some more paracetamol. ***WINNER OF THE @BeyondSol 'FIRE ON ICE' SHORT STORY CONTEST*** Contest Prompt: "Write a short story about a universe everlastingly tormented by frost, in which the only hope to survive, an eternal fire inside one of the planets, starts to die out." (500-1,000 words) I tried to craft a brief description for this story but failed. You will understand if you read it!

[WRITTEN FOR SEKAI'S JULY '21 SHORT STORY COMPETITION] - 'Write about a character who is lost.' Writing is not just stringing sentences together... it is trial and error, distractions, and hyperfixating on one word until it stops looking like a word. There is nothing more tedious than going back and forth, struggling to reach a stupid word count. We've all been there and we'll continue to be there. After all, it's what we love doing. The lower word limit was 1500. This story is exactly 1501 words long.
