When Rue Mellark, daughter of the star-crossed lovers from District 12, is reaped for the 98th Annual Hunger Games, Poppy Everdeen, her cousin, daughter of Primrose Everdeen, volunteers in her place. Poppy's sole goal is to return home to her family, just like her Aunt Katniss did all those years ago, but that is going to be hard thanks to Kayden Hadley. Kayden Hadley, son of famous District 2 victor Marcus Hadley and nephew of the late Cato Hadley, is out for revenge. Since Kayden was just a toddler, his father has been training him for the games, and now that he is 18 he is ready to volunteer. But his plan to get revenge on the Everdeen's gets disrupted when he develops real feelings for his enemy. When someone finds out her secret of whenever she touches water then she becomes a mermaid her life was forced to labour forever...

This is a EVERLARK fan fiction of how I see the two star cross lover coming back together. This story begins when Peeta returns to District 12(so before epilogue but after Mockingjay). Katniss is trying to deal with all her losses and is trying to move past them best she can, while Peeta is still trying to manage his episodes from the hijacking. (Has a similar reunion to the Mockingjay Part 2's) Will Peeta and Katniss ever return to each other? Can Peeta get past his nightmares and episodes, and find the love he's always had for Katniss? Will Peeta help Katniss deal with her survivor guilt or possibly make it worse? Will Katniss ever find the words to explain her feelings or will her fears shut her down? Again this is how I would see Katniss's and Peeta's future. I've read a lot of other stories and they helped me picture my own opinion :)

Katniss and Peeta are both rescued during the end of Catching Fire. We see them grow more together during this time period in thirteen as they experience the ability to choose whether or not they want to be around each other. We see how they come closer together as Katniss knows now how she feels about Peeta. There's a fall out between Katniss and he best friend. At this moment, Finnick is alive, Annie is safe, Peeta is safe, Prim is alive, and Katniss is more alive than she has felt in years. All credits go to Suzanne Collins for this amazing series.

Finnick's son was never named and so I chose a random name and description that I enjoyed, based off of how I pictured him when I was reading the Hunger Games series.

This story takes place 5 years after the epilogue following a familiar cast as they live with the new democracy. The new president appointed was quite close with Katniss. But now there is unrest when the capitol is seen driving vans on the old roads without any explanation. Will the old dictatorship reemerge, will Katniss be able to deal with trials of being a mother of her rebellious kids, will Peeta be able to handle himself in old surroundings that could set him off. Ever wondered what happened to Katniss and Peeta once they returned to 12? Well, I'm going to put my spin on what I think would've happened as their relationship progressed - the ups and downs, the laughs and cries... and of course Haymitch will be there too :) Hopefully you'll like my first fanfic!
