A young teenage girl, haunted by the memories of her father's execution, attempts to escape a cruel regime by night. A solitary woman, abandoned by her husband, inadvertently plays into the cruel hands of 'the state'. In another totalitarian regime a traffic light fixer is dealt with brutally for admiring a sunset. All these characters capture the essence of what it's like to be disempowered and cruelly dehumanised at the hands of a heinous, corrupt power. This sharp collection of pertinent short stories throws an at times uncomfortable light on cruelty, injustice and persecution that is all too relevant today. But ultimately these stories celebrate the strength and determination to survive at all costs, that exists within all of us.

STORY DESCRIPTION: THE STOLEN LEGACY Headline: He was born into an empire, but he was raised in a cage. The Hook: Daniel Jaiyeola Rodny was the prince of a multi-billion dollar kingdom. But when a tragic accident claims his parents, the gold-plated gates of his home turn into the bars of a prison. Taken in by his guardians, Mr. and Mrs. Emeka, Daniel's life of luxury is erased overnight. He is no longer the heir; he is the servant. The Conflict: While the Emekas live lavishly on his stolen inheritance, Daniel is subjected to unthinkable maltreatment, forced to trek miles to school, and bullied by the very cousins who sleep in his parents' beds. But the sociology of the oppressed is built on resilience. With the help of Musa, a kind-hearted gateman, and Annabel, a brilliant classmate with a mother who fights for justice, Daniel begins to piece together the truth behind his parents' death and the theft of his legacy. The Stakes: In a world where greed is law and family is the ultimate betrayer, can a young boy reclaim a billion-dollar empire before it's completely liquidated? Or will the shadows of betrayal bury the Rodny name forever? "A gripping tale of resilience, legal warfare, and the unbreakable spirit of a child who refused to stay voiceless."

The Weight of the Skin "The fault lies not in the silk, but in the predator that stalks it." At two in the morning, on a bus crossing the silence of the city, Elena Soler's life shatters. An unwanted touch and a cry for help that receives the cruelest response: "If she goes out dressed like that at this hour, what does she expect to happen?" Trapped in a web of prejudice where her clothes are the only "evidence" against her, Elena must face a society that prefers to measure the length of a skirt rather than the gravity of a crime. But in the courtroom appears Julián Cortés. A lawyer whose eloquence is a double-edged sword. He seeks not only a legal sentence; he seeks justice in a world that confuses freedom with invitation. In a legal battle where faith, law, and dignity intertwine: Can justice prove that purity is not in what we wear, but in the respect of the one who looks? :: One-shot story 💭 Friday, March 24, 1944, little Stinney came home from school and brought his 9-year-old sister, Aime Lou, to the fields to exploit and graze their cow, Lizzy. The field was located between the houses and also near the railroad tracks that is separating the black and white communities of Alcolu, this area can be also caught from the Stinney's house. During the duties of the child with his sister, two girls named Betty June Binnicker, age 11, and Mary Emma Thames, age 7 were pushing bicycles near Stinney and his sister. When these young girls got nigh the siblings, they asked George and his sister if they knew where the Maypop flowers were, but the Stinneys told them they didn't know where to seek out the flowers, and so without further ado, the girls left after their brief communication. Later that time, Aime Lou Stinney Ruffner recounted that it was absolutely strange to see white girls in their area because Caucasoid or white race usually didn't venture to the black side of town. What trouble would Stinney Jr. and his family awaken thereafter that time?
