Nora West had always lived a safe life. She grew up wealthy, and had her entire life mapped out from a young age. She would be educated, marry a suitable man, have children, and take over her father's billion dollar Bourbon industry. Nora was in Los Angelos for one reason: to work with her father's business partner. At the end of summer, she would go back home and marry her fiancé, Warren. Everything was going to plan. That is until an office emergency occurs, putting Evan Buckley in her path. Evan Buckley was anything but safe. He was fun and pushed Nora beyond her planned out life. On paper, he was terrible for her. However, he was the only person who had ever made her feel alive.

That is until she runs into a handsome fire fighter crunched over in a quiet hall. Evan Buckley was there for his friend, Eddie. Eddie had been shot while on a call. Over the next few weeks, Emma and Buck bond. After Eddie's release, Buck can't shake the memory of Emma. Emma also felt a connection with Buck. However, in order to move on with her life, she must face the memories and reality of what happened to her.

However, a romance was the last thing she needed: because a storm was coming, and Hallie was the target.
