Stile pastiche moderno, non filologicamente fedele. In questo scritto troviamo Edgar, un uomo borghese ed eccentrico, che affiderà al lettore un incarico: compilare delle schede di lettura. Tuttavia i motivi di questa richiesta rimarranno in parte misteriosi. Il mistero prenderà una piega ambigua quando il protagonista inizierà mostrare segni di ossessione e apparente paranoia. Quale sarà la realtà? Edgar ha ragione? O è tutto frutto delle sue fantasie?
