Chapter Twenty-Seven

"You've been here," I whispered in realisation. Derek has been here for God knows long and doesn't bother to tell me? His own daughter? He still stands there, everyone just kind of watched aside, probably afraid to speak. "You've been here the entire time and not bothered to tell me?"

I let out a scoff, looking away from him and crossed my arms as I stand. "Addison, I—"

"You're such bullshit," I growled out, clenching my jaw angrily. I knew I was still drunk. Derek knew it as well. Heck, everyone knew I was drunk still.

"Addison," Allison had finally stepped in worriedly and I shoot her a glare. Her eyes widen and doesn't walk anymore.

"I've been trying to contact you for over a week," I point a finger towards Derek. "And you didn't respond, but now you've been here for God knows how long. What? You were just gonna stay here and a bit and then leave without even telling me?" I inhaled. "Bullshit."

I felt the vomit coming up and I closed my eyes tightly, trying to get that sick feeling to go away. Everyone was silent, no one knew what to say, and it kind of hurt. First, Stiles' stood me up, then Derek's been here probably this entire time.

God, I can't wait to get back to France and then I won't have to deal with anyone bullshit anymore.

That last thought didn't help and I ran to the bathroom, once I reached it and I had locked the door and let out all the vomit that I held in into the toilet.

I vomit again and hopefully, that's the last time I vomit. I absolutely hate aftertaste of vomiting.

On the other side of the door, someone was trying to come in, they were constantly rattling the door handle 'causing a sharp pain to go through my head at the loud noise. I rest my head on the toilet seat and closed my eyes.

"Go away!" I cried out, my throat feeling yuck.

"Addison, it's me," Allison calls out from the other side. "Let me in, please." I should've known it was Allison, she was the only one that didn't have supernatural strength, if it was one of the boys, they would've riped the handle off by now.

I threw up again, coughing it up this time. I inhaled and exhaled out calmly, removing myself from the toilet seat and leaning back against the wall.

I still felt sick, but hopefully, I'm not gonna vomit again. My mouth tastes vile. Suddenly, the door was ripped open and a silhouette of Derek comes through, my heart thumping and I vomited again into the toilet.

I felt my hair being lifted. I knew it was Derek. "I'm sorry," I heard him whisper emotionally which was surprising. The only time I've seen Derek get emotional was the night we said goodbye to each other.

I was done vomiting and I leant into him, pressing my lips together, cringing at the left over vomit on my lips. "I'm sorry, too," I whisper back as he wrapped his arms around me. "I shouldn't have agreed for my friend to throw a party here. But, I just, I don't know..."

"It's okay," he had whispered, I can hear some guilt. Maybe he's forgiving me because he felt bad about not telling me that he was here. So, I guess we're kind of even... "It's okay," I felt him kiss my forehead.

He's not mad at me... At least, he wasn't showing he was mad at me.

"I'm a little drunk," I stated stupidly and he lets out a chuckle.

"Yeah, I know," Derek answered, rubbing my arm soothingly.

"Derek, what were those things?" I mumbled, closing my eyes, seeing the mystery men's face again and I opened them quickly.

"I think your Uncle knows a lot more of it than I do," Derek admitted. "I'm trying to figure out what they are myself."

"Oh," I murmur. "That's okay, we can figure it out together, right?" Derek nodded slightly, a small smile spreading on his face. I poked at his lips. "Is that a smile I see?" I never see Derek smile. In fact, I don't think anyone has ever seen Derek smile. His smile was immediately replaced with a frown and I pout. "I like happy Derek."

Our little moment was ruined by Allison, who cleared her throat and I sighed. I had forgotten she was there, I'm not gonna lie, I thought she had left. "Adds, we're gonna talk to Dad now if you wanna come join us."

I nod slowly. Ever so slowly, I got up along with Derek as he helped me up. "Yeah, I'm coming. I'll meet you guys." I glanced over at her briefly and she nods. I buried my head in Derek's chest and he hesitates to hug me back, wrapping his arms around me. "I'm glad you're back."

He kissed my forehead. "Me too,"

I pulled away from him, looking up at him. "I'll see you soon." Derek nods and watched me leave.

After sobering up quickly, Scott, Isaac, Allison and I got back to our apartment. It was shocking, actually, seeing Uncle Chris lay on the ground, unconscious.

We had woken him up and took him to his office. Allison begins to clean him up, I lean on the desk, Isaac sat on the desk and Scott sat in the seat.

Uncle Chris begins to tell the story of how he knew of these mystery men and how he's somewhat connected to them.

"Their eyes were glowing." Scott had informed Uncle Chris.

"There was something almost ritualistic about it." Uncle Chris tells us. "Like it was looking right into his soul."

"That's the same thing it did to me," Isaac recalls his moment.

"That's what it did to everyone," Allison cleans Uncle Chris's wound on the head.

Scott blinks. "Not everyone. They only came after the werewolves."

"And Lydia." Allison glanced over at Scott.

"Anyone with a connection to the supernatural," Uncle Chris figured.

"Then who's the guy they went after in Japan?" Isaac asks, recalling what Uncle Chris was telling us earlier.

"A kumicho," Uncle Chris continued. "A yakuza boss. It was my first gun deal. I was only 18; it was supposed to be a simple gun exchange expect Gerard left out the minor detail of the buyers being yakuza. He wanted to see if I could adapt in the moment. Testing my ability to improvise."

"Or your ability to survive," Allison suggested but I kept quiet, my gaze set on the desk in front of me. I was in and out of focus.

"The moment the sun went down it was like they just materialized out of the shadows," he explained. "They had swords, not curved like katanas but straight black stee. Like ninjatos."

"What they want?" Scott asks lowly.

"To get to the kumicho," Uncle Chris continued. "They cut down every living thing in their way."

"Did they mark him like they did us?" Isaac questions and I glanced over at Isaac who touched behind his ear. The masked men put a number 5 backwards behind their ears.

"Not excatly," Uncle Chris answered. He explained how he had turned into something supernatural.

"What was he?"

"I don't know," he answered. "But I think there might be someone who does. There were a few others who survived that night. One of them was a man named Katashi... They called him an silver finger because of an unusual prosthetic. And it looked like he was getting ready to take them all on himself. I've known for a while Katashi was in the country. I spent yesterday tracking him down."

"Didn't look like he wanted to be found," Isaac points to Uncle Chris' head.

"Not particularly, no," Uncle Chris shakes his head.

Scott had this look on his face and he stares at Uncle Chris with wide eyes. "You think he knows what they are? Or what they want?"

"Maybe," he answers, looking at Scott.

"What if he doesn't want to talk?" My cousin had finished cleaning Uncle Chris and was now leaning against the window.

"What if he doesn't even remember you?" Isaac added.

Uncle Chris had sat up slowly and walked over to a box that sat on his desk. "He'll remember this." He opened up the box and removed the cloth that hid a broken mask that was from one of the mystery men's mask. My eyes widen. "I know I didn't kill it. I'm not sure you can. But I slowed it down long enough for us to get out of there."

Scott had picked up one of the pieces of the mask carefully. "What was behind the mask?"

"Darkness..." He paused. "Absolutely darkness."
