BLAKE'S POV
I hit the call button for the third time as I tried to get a hold of Eddie. Putting the phone to my ear, I listened as it continued to ring, Eddie not answering.
"What the fuck?" I mumbled under my breath. I saw Victoria watching me with her arms crossed. She was leaning on her luggage giving me a blank stare.
"What?" I asked as she continued to stare not saying anything. She shook her head at me before grabbing her luggage and throwing it on the bus.
"Blake, we are about to leave. Have you gotten a hold of Eddie yet?" My English teacher, Mr. Ross, questioned. I shook my head at him and sighed.
This wasn't like Eddie at all, but come to think of it he had been distant all week. I kept asking him what was wrong but he always brushed it off as he was just tired.
"He probably isn't coming, Blake. We need to get on the bus, we can no longer wait for him." Mr. Ross spoke as he gave me a quick pat on the back.
I nodded slowly and looked down at my phone again before putting it in my pocket and getting on the bus. Victoria and I made eye contact as I got on the bus, but I looked away and took a seat around the middle of the bus.
Mr. Ross yelled at us to keep quiet as he started to take roll. I stared at the window already dreading this trip without Eddie.
"What, your boyfriend isn't coming on the trip?" I turned to give Greyson a dirty look. He winked at me before going back to kissing down the neck of the girl he was sitting with. Greyson had joined our group for the first week of school but easily branched out due to his good looks and carefree nature. Immediately becoming the school's bad boy.
We still talked and hung out at lunch together but he usually had his tongue down someone's throat. Of course, Victoria wasn't happy about me hanging out with him, but what could she do she refused to talk to me.
Mr. Ross finished the roll call and was about to tell the bus driver that it was okay to go but was interrupted by a yelling Eddie.
"I'm here, I'm here...ughh wait let me catch my breath."
" Yuh let me count these checks..." Greyson whispered.
"...Flex on ex yeah..." I whispered back.
We laughed together and high fived just as Eddie flopped down on the seat next to me.
"Eddie!!" Greyson said hitting his shoulder, "Blake here almost killed himself because he thought you weren't coming on the trip."
"Shut. up." I said glaring at him. He just laughed and gave me a cheeky smile. "Honestly though where were you, Eddie, the bus almost left you."
"Slept in?" Eddie said with a shrug.
"Liar!" Greyson and I said at the same time.
"It's nothing really," Eddie said leaning his head on the chair and closing his eyes. He had dark circles around his eyes like he hadn't slept in weeks.
"No sir you are going to tell us," I demanded, shaking him awake. He sighed and turned his head towards me with an exhausted expression.
"My mom found out I'm bi and it's just been a rough week. She's been avoiding me."
"Wait, you're bi?" Greyson asked confused.
"Isn't it obvious?" Victoria said entering the conversation.
"No, it isn't," Greyson said back coldly.
"I don't think you know who you are talking to." Victoria shot back.
"SHUT UP...I can't take the arguing I have a headache." Eddie groaned out. Victoria and Greyson shot each other glares but didn't continue.
"Eddie...I know you hate the cliche shit of everything is going to be okay, but don't let her make you feel bad about something that you shouldn't feel bad about. There is nothing wrong with who you are and she needs to realize that."
"Period," Eddie said giving me a side hug.
"What Blake said." Greyson patting Eddie's thigh.
Eddie gave him a funny look but thanked him none the less.
We spent the rest of the two hours joking around and making fun of Greyson for still trying to whore around on the bus. It was around 10 am by the time we got to Calvin Crest. The camp was filled with woods on either side, with cabins throughout.
"Oh shit, boys this is going to be a fun week," Greyson said putting his arms around us as we got our luggage from the bus. Victoria paused beside us her eyes wide and confused.
"What the fuck is this place?" Victoria said under her breathe.
"A camp," Greyson said rolling his eyes.
"I will hurt you."
"Bet."
Victoria and Greyson glared at each other, but I grabbed her wrist just as she was about to punch Greyson. She glared at me and snatched her hand away.
"Don't fucking touch me."
Victoria walked away from our group and sat down on a rock fuming. "What crawled up her ass?" Greyson asked laughing.
I shook him off me and walked away, heading to Mr. Ross to find our cabin number.
"Blake great.... you guys are in Cabin 5." I gave him a small smile and grabbed the keys, "Make sure to be out of your cabin by 11 we are going to meet our counselors in the main square...you can take this hour to look around." I nodded and walked back to the group.
"We got Cabin 5," I said to Greyson and Eddie. They nodded at me and grabbed their luggage. We walked over to the cabin and opened the door. It was a small cozy place with 3 bunk beds and a bathroom.
"This is cute," Eddie said instantly claiming the bunk by the window. I nodded and looked around the room.
"Let's look around," Greyson said throwing his bag on the remaining bunk bed and opening the cabin door again.
Eddie and I agreed and followed him out the door and walked over to the clearing, in the middle was a signpost with arrows pointing in different locations with names on them.
"Pick one guys....bonfire circle or river rush?" Eddie asked laughing at the names.
"These names are ass but river rush," I said chuckling slightly. We made a left started to exit the clearing when we heard our names being called. Turning around we saw Victoria giving a death glare to Sophia, a girl in our class.
Greyson immediately smiled at Sophia, "You called?"
"Yeah...Victoria and I,"
"It was just her." Victoria interrupted.
"Okay.....I was wondering if we could join you guys we heard you were going to river rush and we planned on going there already," Sophia asked smiling at us.
"Of course. You don't even have to ask." Greyson said putting his arms around her and leading the way.
Eddie and I looked at each other and shook our heads, but followed him anyways. I glanced over at Victoria who was following with her arms crossed. Her hair was pulled in a low messy ponytail and she was in an all-black outfit.
"Victoria you came," Eddie said grinning towards her.
"Yeah."
There was an awkward silence.
"Are you excited ?" He asked trying to keep the conversation going.
"Sure."
"Haha ok..." Eddie scratched the back of his head before going ahead to Greyson and Sophia leaving Victoria and me behind.
"Have you ever been camping before?" Victoria asked looking at me.
"Ohhh so you are talking to me now." I teased raising an eyebrow at her.
"Yes...I am, but only as an acquaintance." She justified.
"Haha okay Victoria, but yeah I've been camping once with Eddie. How about you?"
"Involuntarily."
"You going to elaborate?" I questioned her.
"Maybe later." She said winking at me as she jumped over a fallen tree.
"This place seems so familiar....but it's like I can't remember," Victoria muttered as we neared the river. I gave her a look but she shook her head and shrugged.
"Aww, this place is so cuteeee." Sophia squealed as she jumped up and down and ran towards the lake.
"Sophia stop the current is fast you can get swept away," Victoria yelled after her.
"What are you talking about Victoria, it's barely moving," Sophia called back.
Victoria walked towards Sophia and watched the river, "No..this can't..."
"Crazy~," Greyson whispered to us, but something flashed through his face as he watched Victoria.
I walked up to Victoria and crouched down beside her, "What's up?"
She stared at her reflection in the river as her eyes flashed purple before going back to their normal color. "I'm fine, I just feel like I've been here before."
I nodded at her and helped her up. We went over to the rest of the group who were exploring around the area.
"Woah look its a cave," Eddie said pointing to a covered area around the river. We followed after him jumping from rock to until we entered the area.
"This is gorgeous," Victoria said in awe as she spun around taking it all in.
"Wait do you guys peep the sign?" Greyson asked as he pointed to a sign in the corner.
'DO NOT ENTER'
"Oh well." I shrugged as I started to explore the cave. Greyson gulped but followed in after us. The river was shallow in the cave so we were able to walk around freely.
"This is place is so cute for Instagram pictures, guys lets take a picture together?" Sophia asked as she pulled Victoria towards her and motioned for the rest of us to come.
Victoria noticeably cringed but didn't move away from Sophia. We gathered around as Sophia stretched her hand and put her camera in selfie mode.
"Smile cuties....1..2..3" We gave big smiles as she took a few pictures.
"Awww we look so cute," Eddie said smiling as he peered down at the picture. "Please send that to me."
"Of course!" Sophia said before she asked for our numbers to send the pictures.
"Wait who is that in the back?" I asked as I zoomed in on a shadowy figure in the back facing towards the camera.
"I see it too," Greyson said looking down at his phone. The rest pulled out their phones and looked, they also saw it too.
Victoria went in selfie mode on her camera and snapped a picture. She gasped and quickly showed us the picture, this time the figure was closer to us.
"Guys we have to go now," Victoria demanded. None of us hesitated as we started to run out of the cave. We didn't stop running until we were near the camp.
"Woah guys slow down there." Mr. Ross chuckled as we tried to catch our breaths.
"We...were.. wait to... give me a min-" Eddie stopped talking as he bent over huffing and puffing.
Mr. Ross gave us weird looks, but said nothing and headed to the clearing towards the counselors.
"Now I know why that sign said 'do not enter'." I huffed as I rubbed my chest.
"Yeah, last time I do some shit like that again." Greyson laughed out.
We agreed with him shaking our heads. "What a ruined insta pic...maybe I can photoshop it out," Sophia whined.
I gave her a crazed look, "Are you still trying to post that?"
"Yes, we look too good not to post it."
"I- anyways..." Eddie said shaking his head.
"Kiddos! Come meet your counselors." Mr. Ross yelled calling us over.
We walked over to him and met three out of the four counselors.
"Nice to meet you, Eddie, Blake, Victoria, Greyson, and Sophia. I hope we can have a lot of fun together." Counselor Ariana stated giving us each a handshake.
"Oh look here comes Bradlee our new edition."
"Bradlee?!" Victoria, Eddie, and I exclaimed.
"Hi, guys it's great to see you. I am new here, I joined just a few days ago...hope we can be friends." Bradlee said winking at us and grinning.
"What," Victoria started.
"The," I continued.
"Fuck," Eddie ended.
