(Note: This does not take place during the regular story; this is just a little story of its own)
I was woken up by my alarm on my phone at eight, but I shut it off and fell asleep again and didn't wake until a little after eleven. I was then woken up by Yamada coming in my room and blaring music.
"Come on, Y/N! You can't sleep all day! Not today!"
I covered my head with my pillow, "But why? It's just a normal day for me, I don't have to go on patrol and there's no school. Now, let me sleep."
He sounded shocked, "What! How do you not know what today is?!"
Aizawa must have made his way to my room too since he hollered, "Shut up!"
Yamada then said quietly after he shut off his music, "Sorry, Sho." I then heard footsteps go out of my room, so I imagined that it was Aizawa who left. I got out of bed since I figured that I wouldn't be able to fall asleep again, and made my way slowly down the spiral staircase. "I have a surprise for you!"
I squinted my eyes as I said, "Will it allow me to go to sleep?"
"What?" he asked confused. "No, you'll see when you go downstairs." He then quickly asked, "Why are you so determined to sleep?"
Not wanting to say my reason for wanting to sleep all day, I said, "No reason."
He then said as he walked towards the door, "Whatever, just hurry down so you can get your present!"
I grumbled as I walked into the bathroom and did my hair after I changed into a black and red hoodie along with black skinny jeans. I then walked out of my room and stopped when I got to the railing to see that Aizawa was lying on the sofa while Yamada was at the table, sitting behind a flat box.
"Why are you so excited about Y/N getting her present? You could have waited until she woke up instead of you barging in." Aizawa said as he petted Melody, who was laying on his stomach.
"If she's anything like you, she probably wouldn't have woken up until the new year." Yamada replied.
Aizawa waved his free hand in the air as he said, "She may have her reasons for sleeping so much."
"Yeah, like what?"
"I don't know? Reasons?" Aizawa remarked.
Yamada sighed, "That's what she said earlier." I walked down the stairs and out of the entryway. "There you are! Here! Open it!"
I walked to the table as Aizawa sat up carefully, trying not to disturb Melody too much. I took a seat on my usual chair as Yamada pushed the fairly large, yet flat box, towards me. I pulled it closer to me before opening it carefully. I took the lid off of the box and folded the tissue paper back, which revealed a black cloth with red flowers that were outlined in gold.
"It's pretty, I love the colors." I paused, "But what is it?" I asked, trying to not seem rude.
Aizawa laughed as Yamada explained with a smile, "It's a kimono."
"Why do I need one?" I asked.
"It's for tonight when we go to the new year's festival that's in the next town over. Here, take it out and see if it'll fit." Yamada suggested.
Aizawa laid back down as he said, "Of course it will."
I took it out to get a better look at it. It was something that I wasn't used to, so I was very gentle with handling it. "You know, you don't have to hold it as if it's made out of glass." Yamada said with a smirk.
"I don't want to wreck it." I said in a careful tone.
He chuckled, "You won't, trust me. Now, go try it on. We'll have to leave in a few hours because it takes a while to get to the town."
"Okay." I said as I got up from my chair, then walked to my room.
When I got into my room, I took the kimono completely out of the box and attempted to put it on. Thank god for instructions online; though I'm sure I tied something wrong. After an hour or so, I finally got enough courage to walk downstairs again to ask if I put it on right. Aizawa was fast asleep while Yamada was sitting at the table still, working some things out for his radio show.
Nervously I asked, "D-did I do it right?"
Yamada looked up before saying, "Come here, I'll fix the belt." I then walked closer to him. "Turn around." He then adjusted the obi so it would look better. "Walk a little ways then stop. I'd like to see if I need to fix it some more." I did what he said and waited for another order. He smiled and said as he gave a thumbs up, "It looks wonderful on you."
I looked down so my hair was covering my red face, "Th-thank you." I said sheepishly.
He sat down as he said, "Now you should do your hair. I think the hair clip is in the box? If not, come back down and I'll see if it came in the bag that the box came in."
"Alright." I said as I started for my room again.
When I made it into my bathroom, I looked in the mirror at my long hair that was divided into two parts that were draped over my shoulders.
'How the hell am I supposed to style this? My hair is too long.'
Look it up dumb ass.
'Right.'
I pulled out my phone and searched up how to style long hair for the occasion. After watching a long video, I grumbled about how much effort it will be and how long it will take. In the end, I took about an hour because I had to curl it in certain places and I also had to insert many, MANY bobby-pins. I walked to the box and looked for the hair clip. It was there in the box in its own little box. I opened it up and took out a large hair pin that had many little red flowers that had gold in the center and black tassels hanging off of the bottom of it. I walked back into the bathroom and clipped the pin in my hair where it said to pin it. I then looked at the final product. I didn't like how I looked since I always have my hair down, but if I were to not look at my face and just focus on the hair, it looked okay.
I then spent about thirty minutes or so gathering up courage before walking back down the stairs. When I exited the entryway, no one was in the main area where I'd normally find them. I figured that I should wait at the table, so I did. It wasn't until about an hour later then they came out of their room, dressed in their new years attire. Aizawa's was black (of course) while Yamada's was a dark green. I stood up once they took a few paces out of their room.
"Oh wow, you did a really good job on your hair!" Yamada said happily.
I gave a sheepish smile as I said, "Th-thank you."
He patted my shoulder as he asked, "Oh come on, what are you nervous about?"
"I've never worn s-something like this...or have had m-my hair up." I said with a slight stutter.
"You look great though! For what I guess is your first time at putting your hair like that or putting a kimono on, you did a great job, surprisingly." he said, trying to give me a boost of confidence. "Well then, let's get going so we get to the festival by the time it starts."
I followed them to the door, but then Aizawa realized something. "Zashi, we forgot to give her the socks for the sandals."
"You're right, I'll go grab those!" Yamada said before running off to their room, rustling about looking for them, then came back with the special socks in hand. "Here you go, sorry for forgetting about them." he said as he handed them to me.
"It's fine." I said as I sat down on the first step of the stairs to put the socks on.
After we got done with putting on our shoes, we went out to the car and started for the little town. After a few hours I began to wonder how long it was going to take to get to our destination because all I knew was that we were going to the next town over supposedly. After we went through two towns I spoke up.
"Didn't you say that we were just going to the next town over?"
"Yeah," said Yamada, "about that, I meant a few towns over." I sighed. "But hey, their festival is worth it! Trust me!"
"It is pretty good." Aizawa said, agreeing with him as he sounded half asleep.
I sighed about having to be stuck in a car for longer than what I wanted, then tried to fall asleep without messing up my hair that I spent so long to style. After what felt like a short nap, we made it to the town. When we got out of the car I looked at my phone and saw that it was a few minutes after seven. After a little walking, we made it to the area where the festival was being held, which was fairly close to a shrine. I guess that my anxiety got the better of me, causing me to walk closer to Aizawa and Yamada as I looked down, trying to hide my face. They both took notice of my body language.
"You alright, Y/N?" Yamada asked.
Aizawa answered for me thankfully, "There's too many people."
"Haven't you been to something like his before?" Yamada said, asking another question.
I shook my head, "N-no, not at all. I always s-stayed home because I n-never knew what to d-do during th-this sort of event."
We then walked to the shrine part to pray for a prosperous new year. I didn't know what to do even then because I had never been to a shrine cause no one ever showed me. I've been so focused on becoming a hero that I forgot about that aspect of life in a different country. I had to ask what to do so then I wouldn't do anything disrespectful. I felt like a complete idiot since I was how old and I didn't know what to do. After that I followed them around as they scoped out the different stands that were set up. As we walked along, I somehow got separated from them. I don't know how I did though since I was walking so close to them, but I guess a group of people pushed their way between Aizawa, Yamada, and I. I started to panic and ran into the brush that was just beyond the lit up path where everyone else was. I was now alone.
'This was a bad idea, I should have said no and stayed back at the apartment. They would have had more fun without me being the drag that I am.'
I found a tree that had fallen and decided to sit on it since it would be best if I were to stay put rather than look for them. I pulled out my phone to see if I could text one of them, but before I could finish putting in my password, I got a phone call from Aizawa.
"Where are you?" he asked in a worried tone as soon as I answered.
"I-I'm sitting on a f-fallen tree a that's in th-the woods. It-it's just a little in the b-brush." I stuttered.
He sounded a little relieved, "Alright, just stay there, we'll find you."
"Alright." I said.
I waited there, shaking from anxiety the whole time. After about fifteen minutes they found me. As soon as I heard a branch snap, I shot up from where I was sitting and looked in the sounds direction. I saw that Yamada and Aizawa were rushing towards me, which caused me to walk quickly towards them.
"It's a relief to see that you're alright." Aizawa said as he took me in a hug, causing me to tense up more. Upon feeling me tense up, he let go, "Sorry, I was just so relieved to see that you're alright."
"Hey, Y/N, I'm sorry that I pushed you to go this far out of your comfort zone." Yamada apologized.
I shook my head, "N-no, it-it's fine, I sh-should be pushing m-myself. S-so, let's h-head back to the main area."
"Are you sure? We could find a spot to watch fireworks." Aizawa said,
"I-I'm sure." I stuttered with confidence.
"Alright then, let's go this way." Yamada said as he started walking.
After a few hours of looking at the vendors that had stands, we went to a spot where many people were waiting patiently for the fireworks to start. We looked around for an opening where we could sit, but there weren't any. I then sprouted an idea.
"H-hey, what if-f I teleport us somewhere?" I asked.
They looked to each other before Aizawa replied, "It's up to you."
I then took a hold of each of their shoulders, then teleported to an opening in the woods was partially a cliff.
"Gees, what are you going to do? Kill us? Where's the town?" Yamada asked as he looked around.
"N-no, I have a f-feeling that we'll have a better v-view of the fireworks from here." I said as I got comfy on a big boulder.
Aizawa walked next to me, "Don't you have to know an area so then you'd be able to teleport?"
I nodded my head, "Yeah, but if-if I have a feeling, th-then I go by that."
"I see." Aizawa said as he sat down on a different boulder, which then Yamada joined him on the same rock.
A few minutes later we could see that fireworks were going off in the near distance. We were at a perfect distance so we didn't have to break our necks to look at the display to see the full thing. I smiled at the thought that it was my first actual new years celebration. Once it was over, we all stood up and dusted ourselves off. I walked to the edge of the cliff to see how far up we were. Aizawa grabbed my shoulder tightly and pulled me back.
"S-sorry! I was curious about h-how high up we were." I said, not realizing that he was fearing the location that I chose.
Yamada didn't notice what happened, and exclaimed, "It was a better view here than where Sho and I usually go to! Thanks a bunch, Y/N!"
"No problem." I said with a quick smile.
"Let's go back, I'm tired." Aizawa said, wanting to get back to the apartment quickly even though it was many hours away.
I took a hold of their shoulders again and teleported to the car. When we got in and started our journey back to the apartment, I fell asleep in no time cause I was so tired. I also figured that even though I had a panic attack and got separated from them, I thought that it was quite fun since I had never done something like that. So, in the end, it wasn't all that bad; I'd do it again actually.
