dear you,
it's gotten really hot out, with summer sneaking up so suddenly like that. the air conditioner doesn't work too well and always makes this funny clanking sound so i've resolved to arm myself to the teeth with fans and popsicles and bags of ice.
katsuki always looks at me funny whenever he stomps through the doorway and sees me surrounded by fans on all sides. he tries to be subtle but i notice how he stares at my arms, my hands, and is always wondering about something.
i wonder. there's something in the way his eyes fixate on my fingertips that makes me think i'm missing something. and suddenly, i have an old ache in my finger joints, a power lost and dusted over with time from disuse.
sometimes i can still feel a tingle, a spark, a chill shudder in my palms. but it always leaves as quickly as it comes, and i lean back and stare at the ceiling. maybe we should repaint it when you get back home.
how are you doing?
you've never really liked the heat and clung to one half of my body (always the right side. why?) and avoided the other as if your life depended on it. and then you'd press your cheek to mine and stay like that for a good half of the day, both of us just sprawled over that horrendously ugly paisley couch mina sent us ten years ago, as your birthday present.
it's still there by the way—i'm sitting on it now as i write.
speaking of mina, the girls stopped by yesterday. when i asked them if they saw you at all, they looked at me funny and shook their heads, before i invited them in to sit for a while. you know, like a polite person. but if they haven't seen you, how come katsuki and izuku have heard from you?
the last time i saw you—around two nights ago—you looked a bit blurry, a jumbled of fading lines and soft colors washed by water. then i blinked, and you were normal again, and you were smiling back at me before you shut the front door behind yourself and disappeared.
did something happen?
don't let any petty squabbles get in the way of your friendship with them, okay? in hindsight, many big problems grow smaller once you step farther away, and they are just about as important as morning mist, or steam wafting from a tea cup—that's my two cents, if you wanted to know.
kyoka told me that she and momo are planning to get married later this year—sometime in the last days of winter, for some reason. she kept on blushing and laughing so i wasn't able to get a coherent sentence out of her, but tsu was a good translator. ochaco is doing well with her new hero agency and is rising quickly up the ranks, tōru and ojiro are happy with two kids, and mina has started a fashion line. i don't know if that's a good idea, but i guess we'll see later.
she gave me a tie that matches our couch really well. i've hidden it in the back of my closet.
i don't know, but bright colors aren't really my thing.
but i'm sure you'd look brilliant in anything. even if my eyes are being funny, seeing you in faded shades of watercolor.
