Hawke POV: Two years before the start of RWBY
It's been years that the girls and I have been together. We became friends and for some of us well we became more! Mercy and I started hanging out more and she asked me out, which brings us to today. It's our first "date" but we've been going out for a few months. If I'm honest I-I think I love her! But I think by the end of the day she'll hate me. A couple of weeks ago I was approached by one of the teachers at Sanctum Academy, they said that they could admit one of my friends but she would have to move to live at Sanctum!
I want what's best for her! So I agreed, this is the last day me and Mercy spend together for a long time...
My thoughts were interrupted by Mercy grabbing my hand and pulling me towards a carnival
Mercy: Come on! We're supposed to be having fun right!?
Me: Y-yeah right...
Mercy: You alright babe?
Me: Uh yeah don't worry!
Mercy: Hm...
?: Hey you!
Me: Wha-
?: Over here!
I look over at a man running one of the games
?: Ah good! Why don't you come over here and win something for your girlfriend!
Mercy: Nope! Those things are rigged!
Me: Yeah I don't think-
?: Oh so you're too much of a chicken huh?
Me: What did you call me?
I asked through gritted teeth?
I put some cash down and he gives me three baseballs
Game-guy: The game is simple, you have three chances to knock over those bottles! If you manage to do it on the first try you get a brand new Scroll!
I grab the first baseball and using my semblance throw it so hard it shatters the bottles and flies through the back of the booth into the side of a building knocking it down! Mercy is grinning and the booth idiot looks at me in shock
Me: I believe you owe this beautiful woman a Scroll!?
Booth-guy: Y-yeah just don't hurt me!
He gives Mercy a brand new Scroll and I realize it's the one that is supposed to be released next month
Mercy: Thanks babe! This is amazing!
Me: Only the best for you gorgeous!
We continue walking until I'm pushed over by a guy with burnt orange hair
?: Watch where you're going punk
Mercy: HEY! What do you think you-
She gets interrupted by another man walking up
?2: Oh look at you hot stuff! Why don't you and me hang out!?
Mercy: I'm on a date with my boyfriend!
?: Who? Freakshow over here? Come on baby let Cardin show you a good time~
?2: Yeah come on baby me and- WOAH look at his face! What the hell happened to you scar-face!?
We realize that the two are together , I quickly stand up and walk over to Mercy
Me: Now before you do anything you regret what's your name?
?: My name is Cardin Winchester and this is my best friend-
?2: Shane Grey how about you sexy~?
Harrison grabs Mercy by the hip and pulls her closer to him
Mercy: H-hey! Get off me!
She tries to push away but he ends up pushing her...
Me: WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!?
Everyone freezes and looks at me
Me: HOW DARE YOU TOUCH HER! HOW DARE YOU HURT HER!
Mercy: B-babe!? I'm ok! Look at me I'm ok!
I suddenly black out
TIMESKIP
Mercy POV:
What the hell!? Happened back there?
Hawke: Ugh what happened?
Me: Babe!
I grab him and pull him into a hug
Me: What were you thinking!? You could have got hurt!
Hawke: What happened?
He- he didn't remember?
Me: I don't know really. There was this burst of orange and suddenly you were punching the guy, you almost killed him!
Hawke: He deserved it!
Me: W-what?
Hawke: He hit you! He deserved to die!
Me: Look you need to relax ok?
Hawke: Fine.
I get up from beside his bed and go to leave
Hawke: W-wait!
I turn around
Me: What?
He looks down and begins to cry. I've never seen him cry! I rush over to him and pull him into a hug
Me: Babe? What's wrong?
Hawke: I-I need to tell you something...
Hawke POV:
ME: I-I need to tell you something...
Mercy: What is it?
Me: I...
Oh Oum this hurts
Mercy: You can tell me anything!
Me: I 'sigh' I signed you up for classes at Sanctum...
Mercy: W-what? We're going to Sanctum!? Oh Oum! This is a dream come true! We need to start packing! The school year starts next week-
Me: Only you.
Marcy: W-w-what?
Her eyes widen and she stops hugging me
Mercy: B-but Sanctum is all the way in Argus!
Me: I know that-
Mercy: So are we moving or what?
I look to see tears in her eyes
Me: No. You will be moving and Emerald and I.... Will be staying here.
Mercy: No. NO please don't make me go!
She lunges at me and hugs me
Mercy: You are all I have left!
It's true. Roma took Neo and half our cash and left a while back. It really hurt but we're mercenaries and they were thieves so I don't know what I expected. The only ones of us that were left were Emerald, Mercy and myself.
Me: You have to go! It's your dream!
Mercy: But I don't want to do it without you!
Me: Please! Do it for me?
Mercy: W-what do you-
Me: I mean, be better than me! Do better and rise above me! You have so much potential and you are just wasting it here! So go! And become the best huntress that has ever walked Remnant!
Mercy looks at me before nodding and standing up
Mercy: I will. For you.
She said in a whisper
TIMESKIP The next day
I kiss Mercy one last time and then she starts walking.
She walks out of my office and to the transports, Emerald finally reveals herself to me. It's obvious that she's been crying.
Emerald: I guess it's just you and me now huh boss?
Me: Y-yeah...
She walks over and hugs me and we both start to cry again
After a while she fell asleep in my arms so I took her to lay down in her room, after I set her down and went for a walk and one thing came to mind
Me: 'I could use a drink'
