For the last night before they set off on their tour, Freddie and Mary had decided to invite everybody over for a little get together with food and drinks - which is why Rebecca, along with Brian and John, were trailing through the closest supermarket, where they had been sent to get some supplies.

Brian was pushing the trolly while she and John looked over the list that Freddie had given them.

"Why do we need a list?" John asked, peering over her shoulder, "Everyone knows that the key to a successful party is booze and ice. He hasn't even written those down."

"I agree," Rebecca nodded, crumpling up the piece of paper before stuffing it into the pocket of her jeans, "To hell with the list."

"Where's Roger?" John then asked, "Thought he was supposed to be coming with?"

"He's still sleeping," she shrugged, tossing some crisps into the trolly, "Which is why Brian had to get the bus to my place so he could get the keys to the van."

The three continued their way around the shop and she rubbed her hands together when they came to the alcohol aisle, wincing when Brian crashed into another trolly that was being pushed around the corner.

"Oh gosh," a woman gasped, appearing around the shelf, "I'm sorry. I was too busy trying to read my - wait, Brian?"

Both John and Rebecca were confused as the woman, who had copper coloured hair and a very pretty face surged forward to throw her arms around Brian's neck.

"Brian May!" she repeated, holding him at arm's length, "It's so good to see you!"

"Yeah, Kerry," Brian said quietly, scratching the back of his neck, "You too."

John tapped her arm, "Who is she?"

"How am I supposed to know? Come on," the two of them split up to grab the drink that they would be needing and it was when she was putting a crate of Budweiser into the trolly that the conversation became more interesting.

"How have you been?" Brian asked, a hand still placed awkwardly on his neck.

"Oh, I'm fine. Just been studying away, you know? How about you?"

"Yeah, yeah. I'm good thanks."

"...and how's Roger?"

Okay, now Rebecca was really interested. There was just something about the way she said and she silently moved to stand beside Brian, giving Kerry a small smile.

"He's good?" Brian nodded but it sounded more like a question and he slung his arm around Rebecca's shoulders, "This is Rebecca. She's Roger's..."

"Girlfriend," she said, holding out her hand, "I'm Roger's girlfriend."

She was pleased to say that she saw a flicker of surprise (and possibly jealousy) cross over the woman's features as she raised her hand to shake hers.

"Oh, that's lovely," Kerry said quietly, "I...where is Roger? Is he here? I'd love to say hi. I haven't seen him since things ended."

"He's still in bed," Rebecca said quickly, seeing Brian shift uncomfortably but she didn't look away from the woman in front of her.

Was she being petty? Probably.

Did she care? Not at all.

Brian cleared his throat and stepped forward to give Kerry another awkward embrace before looking down at her, "I think it's time we get going, huh? Where's Deaky?"

Deaky was halfway down the aisle, having had the good sense to stay away from the growing tension but Rebecca was nodding at Brian's suggestion of leaving, "Yes. Freddie will be wondering where we are. Nice to meet you, Kelly."

"Kerry," Brian coughed.

"Oh, sorry." It was a genuine mistake...honest.

John finally made his way back over, gently putting another case of beer into the trolly, "That should be enough. There is only six of us."

"When has any party that Freddie has thrown ever been just the six of us?" Rebecca asked, looking at Brian and Kerry to see that they had started another conversation, "Come on. We'll go pay. Brian, we'll meet you outside!"

John walked silently beside her, clearing his throat when they joined what looked like the shortest queue, "Couldn't help but notice a little bit of tension there."

"Well done, Deaky," Rebecca gasped, "You want a medal for that observation?"

He held his hands up, "You're mean when you're jealous."

"Jealous?" she spluttered, "I don't know where you got that idea, Deaky. What have I got to be jealous of?"

"Maybe the fact that she was with Roger fir..." he trailed off when she glared at him. He was just going to be quiet now.

All through helping Mary prepare the food for the party, Rebecca's mind wasn't in it.

Since things ended it was obvious that Kerry knew Roger the same way she did but she just didn't know how serious their relationship got - if it was even serious.

She had tried to get information out of Brian but he couldn't tell her very much.

Or wouldn't.

She was in the kitchen cutting up some vegetables for Mary when Brian arrived back from picking up Roger and she was so invested in her own thoughts, she didn't hear him come up behind her.

The knife she was using slipped when he wrapped his arms around her waist, slicing a small cut into her finger.

"Ah!" she gasped, dropping the knife with a clatter and the teasing smile that had been on Roger's face, slipped off.

He took hold of her hand, bringing it closer to him so he could inspect it and he looked at her with guilt-ridden eyes, "I thought you heard me."

"It's okay," she replied, giving him a smile.

"Come on, we'll get you a plaster."

He took her hand and led her through to Freddie's bathroom, where he made her sit on the edge of the bath while he dug around in their cabinet above the sink.

"Roger, it's okay. It's just a little cut." She laughed but he ignored her.

"Here we go," he murmured, peeling the backing off the plaster. He wrapped it around her finger with such precision and such delicacy and he looked at her again when she rest her hand on his cheek.

"I'm sorry I scared you," he whispered, turning his head slightly to kiss her palm, "Could've lost a finger."

"Hardly," she scoffed, admiring his handiwork, "Though you have quite the bedside manner. You'd make a cracking doctor."

He smiled at her and stood to put the box of plasters back in the cupboard, "You must have been thinking awfully hard about something to not hear me. 'M not exactly light on my feet, am I?"

He wasn't wrong.

"What were you thinking of, hm?" he asked, stroking her cheek lightly with his thumb and she glanced down at her hands.

She didn't want to tell him that she had met an ex. So she wasn't going to. This night wasn't about her, it was about Roger and Queen and how they were about to embark on the next chapter of their lives.

"Bex?"

"I'm just gonna miss you guys, that's all," she said weakly.

"Aw," he cooed, pulling her up from where she was sat to wrap his arms around her and she rest her chin on his shoulder, "It's only three weeks."

She knew that. But a lot could happen in three weeks.
