david pulls up in front of a middle school
i'm in the passenger seat, jonah behind me, and josh beside him
suddenly vardon runs out, screaming "david, david"
david laughs, smiling widely "hey buddy"
"what are you doing here?" he asks, crawling into the back
"to pick you up and show you off" david says in a duh tone
"cool" vardon says, excitedly
"you can't be shown off if you're in the back" i say, turning back to see him
his eyes light up "y/n"
i giggle, opening the passenger door after motioning for him to get out
he crawls out of the back, scooting into the passenger seat
"am i squishing you?" he asks, worriedly
i giggle "no, you're perfectly fine"
he smiles "good"
he closes the door as david slowly pulls forward, where a bunch of kids are standing
"that's the kid that bullies me" vardon whispers
"the one in the green jacket?" i ask, leaning towards him
he nods
"what's his name?"
"chris" he whispers
"hey chris" i yell
the guy turns around, locking eyes on vardon, a big smile growing on his face
once he gets closer, he notices all the guys in the car along with me
he stands in front of the door, now loosing focus on vardon as he stares at me, biting his lip
"hey hot stuff"
i cringe "ew, you're like eleven. back away"
he rolls his eyes, the smirk not leaving his face
"what are you doing with this loser anyways?" he asks, sending a glare to vardon
i glance down at him and see a frown on his face
i wrap my arm around his shoulders, letting him rest his head on me
"vardon is my best friend" i answer, making vardon smile widely
chris's eyes widen "him?"
i nod "he's a good friend of all of us" i say, gesturing to the guys
i want to threaten him so bad, but i know i can't
but by the looks of it, i don't need to
chris's face is ghostly white as he glances behind me at david, josh, and jonah
"bye, bye now chris" i say, smiling falsely, waving to him
he nods, mouth slightly parted as david pulls out of the parking lot
i wrap the seat belt around vardon and i, knowing it's definitely not safe, but david doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon
"did you mean that?" vardon whispers, looking up at me
i smile "of course, honey"
he smiles widely "that makes me very happy"
my heart melts as i wrap my arm around him, placing a kiss on his cheek, making him laugh
"that tickles" he mumbles
i giggle, kissing his cheek again
a few minutes later, i glance over at david, seeing his jaw clenched as he stares at the road
i intertwine my hand with his, resting them on the console between us
i squeeze it reassuringly, knowing he won't share his feelings in front of the guys and especially vardon
we arrive at jonah and vardon's house, getting out to visit briefly
i unbuckle our seat belt, letting vardon get out first
he crawls into the back to grab his bookbag before walking into the house, the rest of us following
"welcome, welcome" vardon's mom greets
i laugh, pulling her into a hug
everyone else following
"we can't stay long" david says, a fake smile on his face
she nods "i know, i know. you are a busy man david"
he nods, laughing
she walks over to me "but you have a good looking woman to look after you"
i giggle, both david and i becoming a blushing mess
"are you two, you know, together?" she asks, hopeful
we both shake our heads
she sighs "too bad"
"okay, that's enough mom" jonah says, breaking the awkward silence
"we should be going" david adds
she nods "okay, okay. goodbye"
"bye" josh, david, and i chime
vardon runs over to david, hugging his legs
david laughs, bending down to properly hug him
"thank you for picking me up today, david" vardon mumbles
david smiles widely "it was no problem, buddy"
vardon then hugs josh before running over to me
i bend down slightly, due to the fact that he's not that much shorter than me
"thank you for sticking up for my, y/n, and and for being my best friend"
"aww, your welcome sweetie" i say, rubbing his back "if he or anyone else messes with you, let me know"
he pulls away, looking up at me "i will"
i smile "good, see you soon, okay?"
he smiles widely "okay, see you"

after dropping josh off, david turns to me
"do you want to come over or-"
i cut him off, smiling widely "i want to come over"
he laughs "okay"

as soon as we enter his house, we both plop down on the couch
we face each other from opposite ends, our legs jumbled together in the middle
"what was going through your head when we were at the middle school?" i ask, softly
he sighs, draping an arm over his eyes
"i just got so mad, i was afraid that i would threaten that chris guy and get in trouble and-stuff so i kept my mouth shut and was more than grateful that you handled it because honestly, i wanted to beat him up even though he's just a kid" he rambles
i smile, even though he can't see it "you are such a softie, david dobrik"
he places his arm at his side, looking at me as a giant smile consumes his face
"i would do anything for vardon. i fucking love that kid"
i giggle "me too. he's just so pure and honest and happy all the damn time"
he nods, smiling even wider
his phone, which is resting on the table, rings
the caller id reads 'jason'
"can i answer it?"
he nods
i pick it up, putting it on speaker
"hello?" i say
"y/n, listen. i am really sorry and want to apologize in person to the both of you. i shouldn't have been so dramatic and out of hand" he pauses, waiting for an answer
i don't say a word
"just please come over. charlie and wyatt miss you david and they really want to meet you, y/n"
david sighs "fine. we'll be there shortly"

when we arrive at jason's house, david is welcomed by two kids running over to hug him
i smile, watching him hug them back with a giant smile on his face
"hey guys" he says, before letting go of them, watching them run back into the house
i walk behind david, following him into the house where jason stands
"i am genuinely so sorry, david and y/n. i-"
david cuts him off "it's over and done with. i forgive you"
jason smiles widely, pulling him into a hug, before looking at me
i smile "i forgive you too"
jason hugs me lightly before gesturing for the kids to come over
"y/n, this is charlie and wyatt" david introduces, pointing to each of them
i smile, waving at them
"do you want to play laser tag?" charlie asks, looking up at me with puppy dog eyes
i giggle "sure"
they help david and i get into these battery pack chest things, with toy guns connected to them by a cord
"you\ have three lives" wyatt explains "once you get hit three times, your pack turns red and you are out of the game"
david and i both nod

a few rounds later, david and i finally get the hang of it
both charlie and wyatt are out, leaving just me and david against each other
"he's over there" charlie whispers, pointing to the doorway
i creep into it, my gun aimed and ready
i hear a sound, turning to it and as soon as i do, my pack lights up red
david comes out of hiding, a giant smile on his face, as he picks me up, twirling me around
"i got you" he yells, spinning me around in his arms
i laugh wildly as he joins me
jason clears his throat, causing david to put me down
"one more round before bed time" he warns
"yes, dad" david mutters
i laugh loudly as jason laughs lightly, shaking his head
we restart the game and a few minutes later, both wyatt and i are out
i watch charlie and david try and shoot each other, a giant smile on my face
"do you want to know something, y/n?" wyatt whispers
i turn to him "yeah"
"i truly think david likes you. as more than a friend"
i feel my cheeks heat up
"and something tells me that you feel the same" he adds, a giant smile on his face
i can't help but smile, as i nod
his eyes light up "i knew it. i knew-"
i cut him off "but you can't tell anyone, okay? not even your dad because he'll definitely blab it"
wyatt nods, outstretching his hand "it'll be our secret"
i smile, shaking his hand "our secret"
"what's your secret?" charlie asks, walking over to us
david and jason soon following
i look at wyatt "is she good at keeping secrets?"
he nods "the best"
i smile "then you can tell her when no one else is listening"
he nods as she smiles widely
"is it about you, y/n?" her eyes wide with excitement
i nod, smiling
she claps her hands together "i can't wait"
i giggle
"okay, bedtime" jason says, rounding them up
they both hugs david and i before running upstairs
jason says goodbye before walking upstairs to join them
i take off my battery pack before looking at david to see if he's ready
instead, he's all tangled up in the straps
i giggle, helping him out of it, before setting it with the rest of them on the table
"ready?" i ask
he nods, wrapping an arm around my shoulders as we walk out to his car
"do you want me to drop you off at your apartment?" he asks, pulling out of the driveway
"yes please"
he nods, driving in that direction
"you can stay over if you want, since it's closer than your house" i add, softly
a giant smile appears on his face as he glances at me for a second
"really?"
i giggle "yeah"
"awesome. i never get the opportunity to get away from my house for a while because it's always the hang out place"
"if you said that earlier, i would've invited you over a lot sooner"
even though it's dark, i can still see his rosy cheeks
~
"goodnight" david says, laying on the couch
i walk over to him, grabbing his hand, pulling him upwards
he allows me to, a confused expression on his face
i smile "you're not sleeping on the couch"
"where else would i sleep?"
i giggle "in my bed, silly. just like at your house"
his cheeks heat up "but that's different"
i furrow my eyebrows "how so?"
"well it's my bed and- and your bed is smaller"
i roll my eyes "get over yourself, david. you're sleeping with me in my bed and that's final"
i take his hand leading him to my room, a faint trace of a smile on his face
i crawl under the covers, david following
due to the size of my bed, we have no choice but to be closer than we normally are
i feel david, laying tensely beside me
i turn on my side, facing him
he does the same, looking at me through the darkness
i smile "guess you're stuck with cuddling me"
he laughs, softly, wrapping his arm around me waist, pulling me closer to him "i'm glad that you have a small bed"
i giggle, cuddling my head into his chest, letting the sound of his heartbeat lull me to sleep
